Honestly, on pavement ride seems to be at least as good the DTD on Moby if not the same. Off road, Moby still has the edge on big hits being that he's got bypass shocks in addition to coilovers. However, overall ride bombing across the desert feels similar. When it comes to flex, the JL coilovers offer an inch more travel so JET wins there.

Man, Eddie you’re killing me! I just got over the bug for a JL and decided to keep the JK since it’s almost paid off, but this is tempting again haha
I love the simplicity of this over the double throwdown and Evolever.

Ride quality is without question, 100% subjective and everyone has their own idea of what "good" is. Certainly, after over 20 years of testing a wide array of suspension systems and on all kinds of Jeeps, I'd be lying if I said that Cindy and I didn't have an idea of our own. Of course, for us, that would be a long arm suspension system with coilovers and specifically, one made by EVO!

In spite of what so many people seem to think, not all long arm kits and coilover systems are made the same. In fact, most kits out there require you to have a sky high stance, lack any real up travel and offer a ride quality that is in my opinion, sub par. What we love most about the EVO system isn't the high clearance long arm brackets, the low stance you can set it to, the 15" of vertical travel, the crazy big flex it provides or how amazingly well it soaks up the bumps bombing across the desert, it's how awesome it handles and feels ON PAVEMENT and as a daily driver. Even though we work from home, we rack up a ton of miles on our Jeeps and just on our JL Wrangler alone, we've already got 36,000 of them. As most of you know, we NEVER trailer our Jeeps and so all our miles are from us driving around the country to get to trails, wheel them and then drive them back home again. It's because of this that ride comfort is so paramount for us and in our opinion, no other suspension system can come even close.

In this episode of the JL JOURNAL, you'll get to see what it takes to get an EVO bolt-on coilover system installed on a Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. You'll also get to see how a suspension system is cycled for maximum performance and get a quick look at some testing we did, out on dirt. We hope you enjoy.


Without question, there's nothing cheap about an EVO high clearance long arm kit and coilover system but if you can afford it and need a shop to do the install, we would highly recommend you give Off Road Evolution a call. As you can see in the video, their guys know what they're doing and do great work.

I have been going back and fourth for a few months about taking off my Enforcer kit and going to the long arm coilover kit on my JK. I appreciate all the video content you put together because its hard to find stuff on EVO at times. Other then going down to ORE to get a hands on perspective on some of their stuff, I haven't had much luck finding install videos to really see what I will need to do or what I am up against. Yes, there are threads with pictures but the video shows the reality of the project better then picture do. This video helps me see what I am up against if I want to make the conversion. I'm good with everything I see being cut off and would just need to hire a mobile welder. Thanks for creating this video. I know there are some different steps between the JK and the JL but I would think there wouldn't be all that much.

LOL - I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't sure what to expect from this kit until I got a chance to test Mel's JL in Moab last year. He's made changes since then that make the kit ride even better. It's far superior to the bolt on kit that's made for the JK and a lot of that is due to how the JL is made. Things like the rear shock mounts being located on the outside of the frame allow for much bigger coilovers. It's a hell of a lot easier to work with than a DTD too.

The long arms are similar but not the same. For the coilovers, the JL install is easier especially in the rear.

I know it took me a week to watch it, but that was a great video. The EVO suspension looks like it is going to be really nice!

It’s too bad about the tire width. I assume you’ll be switching wheels, when 40’s come around. I really like those wheels, too. Of course, they are perfect for anyone on a regular lift.

I dunno. KMC now makes the XD232 and it comes with 3.5" of back spacing - what we'd need. When we go 40's, we'll run 8 lug so we'd need new wheels anyway. Maybe just go with those :)

What an awesome lift kit! I hopefully one day will have that on my jk [emoji106]

Just curious if one such as myself made the long journey down to ORE what I would expect :)..
I could probably rent a car and make couple day vacay out of it.
I think I watched the video's like 3 times now, lol..

I believe the cost of install is about 2 days. As far as time goes, I would allow for a bit more just in case being that unexpected things can and do come up all the time. For us, we needed to address our wheels so that put us there an extra day. Dumb things like that.
