Anyone have locker issues?

Saw a YouTube video with locker issues from the sensors. Some company called Z auto makes a quick plug n play harness adapter thing that tells the computer and locker sensors that “go ahead and lock together.” wondering if it’s something to look into getting off the get go once I get into my JT Rubicon. No need to get unless you have issues down the road and, it doesn’t seem to be too much of a common problem. I wouldn’t stress on it

Also, when the JL/JT first came out, they were having to swap the entire axle to fix under warranty. Now you can buy replacement parts so isn’t as much of a big deal.

I've had my Rubi JT since March of 2020 and no issues with the lockers.

Yeah I had my locker light flashing on my 21 JT. Dealer replaced the sensor under warranty and no issue since. Seems some of the sensors get filled with the gear oil and show as locked.

the rear locker went out on my 2018 JLU, as mentioned, there were no replacement sensors and the wait for an axle was months (according to the dealership), I've got the Z-automotive hooked up and it's been working fine.

Haven't bothered to repair the OE sensor as it appears in comes in a kit with 5 different units and you have to figure out which one works

I have one on my rear full time and a spare in my kit for when the front goes out.

Edit: I wheel quite a bit so it’s insurance.

The dealer has replacement sensors available now so the sensor bypass by Z auto isn’t needed anymore. The sensors comes in a pack of 5 and it’s easy to replace. Just compare the part number on the one you remove to the ones in the box and your good to go.

Honestly not sure if they are sealed any better or not. I asked a friend who works at a local jeeps parts dept, he said they provide 5 because so many axles were built they don’t have a record of what part number was put in what vehicle. Just easier to give you all 5.

Idk if front and rear locker sensors are different part numbers but I’m sure they are. Could always use one of the other 4 for the front lol

My wife's locker lights have been flashing for awhile now. I need to get it to the dealership to have them look at it. Should be covered under warranty if not I'll look into the sensors.

That was my thought process exactly to getting them once I get into my JT

I remember working for Toyota when the Tacoma’s were getting cranked out with the FJ Cruisers and the milling on the timing covers would be to deep causing oil seepage on the timing covers. So that became a recall at the same time the gas pedal recall was already in full swing and the engine manufacturer said were cranking them out to meet your customers demand.

Modern jeeps are an order of magnitude more complex than prior generations, although using technology which allows reducing complexity.

Jeep offered/offers a huge number of assembly options which results in many more permutations to support. The small number of units sold never justified the many options, which means some replacement parts may never be available due to cost of spinning up manufacturing to produce them.

Jeep would have been much better off if they only offered three variants of any given model (while allowing selecting the paint color), as manufacturers used to do. The products offered should have been the models that customers wanted to buy instead of the models the dealers wanted to sell.

Jeep is failing because they went woke. Like a lot of other companies.
