Outward Bound for veterans

When I returned from my last Iraq deployment someone mentioned that Outward Bound was sending vets on trips that were totally free and designed to allow troops with similar experiences to enjoy an outdoor adventure and possible deal with any issues with fellow vets. I was skepticle but signed up. Bottom line for me...I spent a week on the side of Mount Massive near Leadville, CO doing some back country skiing and ice climbing in Vail. The Sierra Club donates big bucks to Outward Bound to give these trips to veterans. I put these links out to folks every chance I get so others can enjoy a ski ytrip to the Rockies, Sailing off of the coast of Maine, dog sledding in Alaska or kayaking in The Florida Keys. If you're a veteran of Iraq or Afghanistan please sign up and take a trip. If a veteran of any other operation or campaign just contact them first to make sure. I had a blast, learned some things about myself and enjoyed some hard work and fun with other vets. I'm not selling anything, these trips are free. You can go more than once but I'm holding back to make sure there is room for others. You have to apply and answer a lot of questions, but it doesn't take long and you're on your way.

I thought because I had experience in alpine skiing cross-country wouldn't be that bad...never worked so hard in my life. 11,000 foot altitude didn't help. ;)

Here are two new adventures emailed to me.
