Rust on Rubi locker and in diff fluid

Hello fellas,
Today I was doing a little prep work and was checking my differential fluid and seen rust. I confirmed this by the rust on my rubicon locker. Do you guys think I’ll have any mechanical issues with a clean and fill? I found another thread on here with rust issues in his diff but the guy didn’t have it on the actual locker. Let me know what you guys think, don’t force me to get a Dynatrac! ;)

^^^^ this. Water got in from a deep crossing most likely. Just clean and refill

That’s the route I’m going to go. I’ve had water in diff but never had rust. Scary thing is, I don’t remember doing any water crossings in the last 6 months since my last service. Lol

Thanks guys

Did it sit for a while after it got the water in it?

That could let things rust, but as stated already, clean and fill should be just fine.

Yeah, I just cleaned and refilled. Did the Mojave trail this weekend with a water crossing so I’ll have to check it again this week.
