Spare Tire Skid Plate.

I just finished a minor upgrade to the Jeep. Every so often I have scraped my spare when going over ledges and I have always worried that a hard hit could bend the tire carrier. So I built a skid plate that attaches to the hitch receiver so the tire won't ever be hit again. Here it is. Also, I noticed that If I build a handle for it it would make a darn good shovel.

Very nice and good idea on shovel. Have you tested it to see how much flex you would get if and when you land on it?

Nice!! I recently seen one just like that on cl I think. He was selling them for around 40 dollars. It had a hitch pin to attach a round pole for shovel use. Very innovative idea!!

My bet is that it won't flex at all. 2" 120 wall tubing welded to 1/4 plate. If I hit hard enough to bend it I am doing something wrong.
