Hey all I was just thinking I should be changing my spark plugs as routine maintenance soon and am just wondering if any one has benefitted from using the more expensive plugs or if there is any real benefit to using platinum plus vs say champion basic plugs any and all info is appreciated

I believe the OE plugs are the champion 7440 which are double platinum and that's what most people use.

Hey Wethy, I see you have a '14. Already changing your plugs? What is the routine maintenance interval on the plugs? I thought they'd be at least 60-80k on mileage. Do you have that mileage on yours already? Just wondering...

the manual says 160,000KM but i have a habit of over doing my maintenance. i currently have 65,000KM on my jeep so its due for a personal inspection and i usually swap transmission fluids spark plugs and now diff fluid. and on the last vehicle i changed them every 50,000km. what'll probly end up happening is ill buy replacement plugs and pull the current ones and if the spark plug gap is okay i will put them back in and keep the new ones until the next check i do. i drive a lot. ive had it since may of last year and will probly have 80,000KM by the end of this year. im OCD on stuff like preventative maintenance

I totally understand. I am much the same as far as maintenance goes. Plus you get the learned knowledge of knowing your jeep really well. I can dig it! 👍👍

I looked up on how to get to the plugs and it seems you have to take off the intake to get too it should be a fun chore too even work on ha ha

Oh boy. Good luck. Take some pics when you do. I'd be interested to see how much hair needs to be peeled off the intake manifold to get to the plugs. It would be good to know in case of a flop or water ingestion. It be a long time till my plugs wear out, but getting them out for an oopsie would be likely sooner to happen.

From the write I saw you pull the air box then there's 6-10 bolts that get pulled and a few vent lines that are clipped to intake manifold and then it just pulls off but who knows we'll see what happens I guess it'll be a weekend job that's for sure

Have the NGK Iridiums. Didn't notice any dramatic change, but I can feel that my rig runs smoother and starts faster.
