Had no idea MoTech made such a complete conversion kit for the LS. The LS to JK wiring harness seals the deal! And cruise control!! Eddie and Cindy, are you getting Moby ready for SEMA?:yup:

Are kspecs like a bias compound? If so does that mean trailoring Moby around for tread wear? I(heading north) passed you guys(heading south) on the I-5 on Tuesday. Hard to miss the orange JK that's a Nitto billboard!

It is a softer compound but, from what we've seen, not so much so that they couldn't last for a little bit. Still, worth giving it a shot and if we can get our hands on a set. I know Nitto is working on a set of K-specs in a DOT street tire but, I don't think they will be available until after SEMA :grayno:

This is 100% true, Moby will NEVER be a trailer queen.

** Subscribed ** Awesome build....How will you calibrate the Speedo / tire size? Will the usual programmers work (AEV, Diablo, Superchip, Hypertech, etc) ?

The MoTech incorporates both the GM and Jeep ECU so that you retain all the functions of your dash, esp, etc. A ProCal or the like should be all that is needed to set the speedo, etc.

I hope to get out to Mel's place to see some of this install, do you think Moby will be finished before the Glen Helen race? I will be at the shop on the 24th. Also, I am going back and forth with Motech in emails on another LS option than what they currently offer :brows:

Edit: btw, how was the Stadium Super Trucks event? Is that not insane! Imagine back when monster trucks only crawled over a junkyard car in a mall parking lot back in the 80's compared to what they do now!

WHAT WHAT WHAT!!??

You can't just say that without giving at least a few more details :nono:

:cheesy: I only wish!! With any luck, the motor might be in by then but, we'll still be waiting on the PR80, wheels, tires and t-case if nothing else. Also, I'm sure there will be little this and that's that will need to be addressed.

It was actually pretty amazing. A real throw back to the Mickey Thompson days only better. I have never seen monster trucks jump over each in a race setting like that before. The main SST event was nail-bitting too. I'm sure they're not all going to be like it but it sure as hell was some of the most exciting racing I have seen bar none. :thumb:

well it seems with all the LS talk, someone is trying to merge his JK with his corvette memories...

Well I am not trying to steal Moby's LS upgrade thunder, because that is just badass on too many levels! But as easy as it has become to do big motor swap in's in anything these days, it's not just about pick this Hemi or that LS and go. Something that Eddie and Cindy have done is probably going overlooked by most as just another V8 upgrade. What many may have missed is the choice of the Vortec over the LS2/LS3 choice. He's going for a brute of a workhorse V8 with more torque way down low in the RPM band, than the higher horsepower LS2 thru LS7 choices. Moby's build up is using the approach that is going to benefit far more than just 400hp(+) worth of Hemi or LS. Nothing wrong with stuffing a crate LS or Hemi in a JK, but if done with more thought of what the vehicle will be used for, the Vortec in most regards is a better choice. I aim to do the same, but using the all aluminum set up of an LS3 or LS7 long block. From there the motor will be built for all low end grunt by being a stroked motor with lots of thought into possibly needing a very custom grind on a camshaft. But here is where being special is not special enough, and it is the hardest part of sticking with a JK and not a custom tube buggy......I'm going to try to run a dry sump oil system, or side oiler. The new motor and trans can be actually be had for $8-10k, but as Eddie has mentioned there are many little items that can or will nickel and dime you way up there in cost.

Anywho, I am super excited that Moby is going large with this next upgrade! I'm just following in the legend's footsteps like everyone else ;)

WOW!!! 2 GM V8s in 2 badass rigs!!! Moby and EVOJeep are going to be awesome!!! I am sure Eddie wont find "thunder stolen" as JK super builds should be shared with us all.... Question is, will they both be done in time for JKX?!?!
