68' M715 AKA "Smokey", 8.1 engine on links, coils and 40's

And that's it. We are CAUGHT UP with how the truck is currently sitting during the build. I'll continue to update as this progresses. If you've read this far, go have a few :drinks:

Also made mounts for the upper heat/AC vents. I wanted these in the dash but there was really no room to make it happen

16 gauge mount cut out from plate...

Thanks guys! Did a LOT of pre-measuring with the radiator yesterday and it looks like it will fit FAR better than I had hoped. Not fully "bolt in" with the factory mounting holes but awfully close. More or less bolt in for this project :)

Little quick fitting before work today...

Drilled for 5/16-18 nutserts

Welded in. I love these friggin’ things. Makes assembling so easy

A comfortable amount of room, I’m very pleased with the fit of the CJ radiator overall. There is plenty of room over the steering box for fittings also. Obviously not “bolt in” but pretty damn close to zero drama

Fit in great. It looks very similar to the one I just put into my scrambler from Novak. It came with decent sized rubber isolators to help from stressing the while flexing the Jeep

Bill makes a good point here - have you thought about mounting the rad with some kind of isolation mounts so that it doesn't split due to flexing? There's another thread here where this issue was discussed. Be a shame to have to tear that out & fix/replace, especially seeing how this beast is going to live on the rocks. Not sure how flexy that old frame will be.

You can see the way Novak designed theirs. It rests in the cradle and is supported by those rubber isolators.

Really a top notch system. But we will see how it preforms.

You guys make some excellent points, definitely need to consider something to alleviate any movement. I'm thinking some thick soft rubber may do the trick. Then lightly bolting it down using Loctite so things don't loosen up. The core support also doesn't necessary solid mount. It has fairly long bolts and thick springs which get compressed a bit. I believe the springs allow things to move a bit.

I'll consider what to do and come up with something functional, I have quite a bit of room where I can move the radiator backwards towards the engine. Thanks again for the input

got thru the thread, impressive skills!

I wish I could weld but then again it's probably a good thing I can't lol

Looking forward to more of the build :thumb:

Thanks! I'm waiting on some additional parts to arrive currently. It snowed here so everything got delayed :rolleyes2:
