All My Texas Neighbors

Caught the Bug
Thanks guys,

HOWDY! I'm Kenny out of San Angelo (West Texas...more or less the middle of nowhere) but I frequent San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, Austin, & San Antonio. Pretty much in that order lol my Fiancee goes to Texas State and we're getting married in Kyle, TX August 16th.

I've got a few "public service announcements" for my fellow Texans:

West Texans:
If you're in the Midland/Odessa area and don't know of West Texas Crawlers then you're probably blind because they have a shee-ite ton of members and they're really cool people. Two members of that club already posted in here (Keno4x4 and LittleTJD or something like that - Kenneth and Daniel). Like I said, they're good folks and do massive get togethers monthly. They do one trip a month.

"My club":
I'm apart of Cult of Jeep based out of Abilene, TX and it's mostly Veterans but there are chapters in Austin (new), San Antonio, and now the Concho Valley (the chapter I'm attempting to start here in San Angelo). If you're in any of these areas, look them up...they're a bunch of bad ass wheelers and good people overall. They're on FB and have a website (www.cultofjeep.com)

Twin Buttes Reservoir:
Here in San Angelo, we have free public trails called "Twin buttes Reservoir." I frequent this place since A.) it's free, B.) theres plenty of diverse wheeling to do, and C.) it's local and, in cased I didn't say it again, IT'S FREE! lol Plenty of room for a big ass gathering (West Texas Crawlers and Cult of Jeep got together last month with over 67 vehicles and everyone had a good time...just the trails were busy). It's much more fun in a smaller group of, say, 10 Jeeps or so. Like I said, I live here and am almost always down for wheeling as long as I'm in the area...HIT ME UP!

Hidden Falls:
I've gone to HF's 4 or 5 times in my JK and once in my old '12 Jeep patriot 4x4 FDII (the "trail rated" model). I absolutely love that place and hope to go with Aussie and his Austin buddies in April some time. I'm sure that'll be posted in the meet ups/crawling thread.

Katemcy Rocks (aka K2):
I've heard this place is tough as shit and will beat on you and your rig...I'd love to go but maybe in a few years when my '13 isn't so new and has more than one dent in it hahaha

Canyons Off Road Park:
Idk if y'all heard about the Texas 4 Wheeling 4 Warriors (or whatever it was called) that was this past weekend but aparently it was bad ass and it was held at Canyons Off Road Park. I haven't been but it's another park to look into.

That's basically all I have...oh! And if you wave at another Jeep and you get no response, pull a U-turn and chase their ass down and politely beat the "Jeep Wave" logic into them (please note...it's probably going to be a woman 9 times out of 10). I'm sick of waving at Wranglers and getting no response...

Welcome Kenny!! Glad you found this and nice way to introduce yourself. We will for sure be doing a hidden falls run in April when you can. It will probably need to be any weekend but Easter weekend. But if it's gotta be Easter I can make it out Saturday but wouldn't be able to do so Easter Sunday.

I've met a few members and they are are great. 13Gecko, Shaka, Anviljk, Texasjeep01, all cool people who can hopefully all make our April trip. It's been so awesome meeting new wheeling buddies who are a ton of fun to hit the trails with! We are looking forward to wheeling with you. We are also doing a march 22 trip to falls if there's any way you can make it you should if not we will make the April trip a lot of fun.

Looking forward to meeting you in person bro!

Yeah thanks for bumping the thread for me hahaha I am limited to one more trip to HFs in April because of my fore mentioned Wedding in August. I really need to be minding my P's and Q's money wise right now so I'm forcing myself to do only one trip locally at Twin Buttes Reservoir in march (the 8th) and then one trip to HF's in April. And yeah it'd be a Saturday for sure. I'm about to head over to the Meet ups/crawling thread right now so I'll read through that and see what people are thinking weekend wise for April there.

Post something up about April and let's see who all can make it out.

Sweet. Thank you Kenny. Sorry but anytime I see your name it makes me think of Cartman from South Park yelling at Kenny. And makes me laugh. I'm sure you will get at least one Kennnyyyyy from me.

Hahaha that's fine. In my high school days when I had slightly longer hair I was called Spock a lot and my avatars used to always be some toy or picture of Spock :cheesy:

Totally off topic but does anyone with a 11+ JK have bright white half doors they'd want to straight trade for full doors? Or know of anyone who wants to do this? If the person lives in west - south Austin all the way to San Antonio (anywhere in that area) please hook me up with them...I want half doors badddd hahaha

Very cool!
One thing you have to do while in ft.worth well maybe more than one but go to Angelo's BBQ it's on the west side of down town if you like BBQ and then also got to Joe T Garcia's Mexican food but go when it's nice outside in the evening with a lady friend and ask to sit outside and be prepared for a hour wait but you can get margarita's while u wait in line just some places that have been there for ever kinda like a landmark

Sorry for being late, a great BBQ in Ft. worth is the Railhead, don't miss it while you are there. I used to go at least once a week. I lived off Hulen so I went down Vickery, but you can get off 30 at Montgomery and you are right there.

Welcome to Wayalife Sbippert. Like Kenny said, look up West Texas Crawlers if you get a chance on face book.

Any of you guys had "Soulman's Barbeque" ? The Mrs and I drive past them a lot and wondered if the food was any good. I see they even have one with truck parking👍
