Offroad Evolution shop thread!

I have a question and if it's been answered can someone direct me.

Does the Front and Rear Double Throwdown kit come with everything needed to install the suspension? Is there anything else needed to run the setup?

Also, what kind of maintenance is needed for the DTD setup?

On Friday I would like to order EVO sliders for a 4door, 4 inch enforcer with drag link flip,..how long do you think it would take for it to hit shipping?

Sent while sitting on the crapper!

If you want King shocks, you'll be waiting a bit. About 5-6 weeks was my wait and I ordered March 3.

Give drew@ORE a call.

I WANT King shocks but can not afford them at the moment. Going with Rancho so I can take advantage of the rebate.

Huge variability in build/shipping times when ordering Kings. I ordered a set of custom valved King 12 inch remote reservoir coilovers and a set of 12 inch remote reservoir smoothies (which are for sale if anyone wants them, going to coilovers in the rear) on Feb 28 and they shipped from King on March 13th and were sitting in my garage on March 14th (overnight shipping was a pleasant surprise that I didn't pay for and certainly wasn't expecting). Was told when I ordered them that the lead-time was 3 to 4 weeks, they shipped in 2.

prob the difference between your order and ORE's order is that since they most likely order in bulk it takes a little bit longer to valve them properly and then ship to ORE or even Northridge

Would seem odd that EVO wouldn't request shocks ship as available in order (or at least in sets of 4) to fill standing orders assuming the balance of the kit was ready to go. But anything is possible.

Doesn't really matter either way, I'd happily wait 4 to 6 weeks if that's what it took because I believe the Kings are superior to the alternatives presently available.

^^My guess is the difference is, at least in part, between off the shelf king shocks and king shocks with ORE custom valving.

I'd disagree, all King shocks are custom valved. They do have standard valving packages they will ship a shock with but even that is based upon a variety of factors including but not limited to the spring rates (single, dual, triple, etc), weight of the vehicle, and anticipated static ride height of the application, so even in the case where a shock is shipped with their "standard" valving package, its still has to be set up based on the specs supplied when the shock was ordered.

For example, a 12 inch coilover ships with different valving if shipped with 200/250 springs versus being shipped with 500/750 springs, versus being shipped with 300/400 springs, etc. And that valving changes yet again if you go to a 10 inch coilover, a coilover with remote reservoirs, different shaft sizes, etc.

It's why there's really no such thing as an "off the shelf" King shock, every single one they sell is custom valved.

Mine didn't contain their standard valving, in fact, they called twice to verify the specs I'd requested to ensure they understood what I was asking for.

Maybe they simply got tired of talking to you and sent them out quickly? :idontknow:

All plausible theories, but since none of us work for King all are simply conjecture. :yup:

Can anyone send me the instructions for my evo rock sliders? Thanks!

- grind the frame in three (3) mounting points

- weld them to the frame with a finger width (about 1/2") between the slider and the frame - the feet closest together go towards the rear of the frame

- paint bare metal areas

- enjoy...
