Still trying to figure out exactly how this happened but I was very surprised to say the least. My brother and I got stuck in similar mud holes. I was winched out from my dring mount and pulled out. Then my brother same method and snap goes his stinger off his bumper. Welds broke and bolts. How idk. The winch line was connected to a D Ring on the d ring mount and in no way was the stinger being used to pull. Funny thing is my smittybilt is fine his Evo qtr pounder stinger not so much.... And after the stinger popped off we just kept pulling his jeep out like nothing happened since the D Ring connection was still intact with the winch line

Don't know, but those breaks look pretty old by the rust.

Where are the bolts on the top of the bumper? Did he shear 8 grade 8 bolts off? What did you do, winch off the hoop?

That is a lie. How did you pull the stinger clean off the bumper when you were using the d rings? The d rings are perfectly fine but the stinger is missing. There is no way you used the d rings.

My thoughts too, where's the top bolts and how did the hoop break when the pulling pressure is on the d-ring mounts and they're still on the bumper! there's got to be more to this one...

Fyi, the hoop is not a proper winching point!

Must of had the winch line tangled in the hoop, only way this could happen.

I highly doubt that either. I would be willing to bet the stinger would stand up to a winch pull. It is stout!

He probably rear ended someone or hit and tree and weakened it then put a strap around it to get pulled out.

Thats probably more the case, like you said it looks like there is rust where it broke so it may have been cracked for a while before the final blow
