Random Photos

Yeah, by the looks of the rust on the break, it's an old break. The metal would be shiny or rust free.
Not a jeep, but since this is random photos, here is the last train I broke in half. You can tell by the rust it had already been broken. I just finished it off.

Those are the only pics I had on my phone... The bumper itself is less then 3 months old, and have been installed probably 2 months... I'm completely clueless as to how it happened as well. You can cal bs flag all you want still doesn't change the fact that it broke off. The appearance of rust most likely means it's been cracked a while. Maybe from shipping? When we installed the 6 bolts on top 1 was fairly hard to get tightened all the way because the plate was bent up from being riffed up during shipment. But we didn't notice any other damage and proceeded to install

Can you post photos of the top of your bumper? With the broken bolts?

How did it break if nothing was attached to pull on it?
 
Well it defies the laws of physics. It obvious the stinger was used as a recovery point and now you are looking for sympathy. Dumb move but be honest.

To clarify, you witnessed the recovery AND the placement of the recovery strap ON the D Ring mount?
 
If you look at the photos, it appears like it was pulled down to break by the way the metal thats left on the bumper is kind of curled down at that point, had to have been pulled instead of pushed.

The top bolts don't hold any weight. The just attach the stinger to the top of the bumper. It wasn't bent that's the way it comes and the top bolts bring the plate down to meet the bumper. I've been pulled with my bumper many times and have never had an issue. There is more to the story.

Exactly my point, that's what idk. Makes zero sense. But when I saw it pop off I jumped out of my jeep and ran up and it was Laying on the line and the line was still attacked to his shackle

So you pulled the jeep by the stinger then. The line does not attach to the stinger and the d ring does not attach to the stinger either. The d ring attaches to the d ring mount which is still attached to your broken bumper.

YOU broke in half? To much slack action? Thats a good break if its at the coupler and not the knuckle. You work for UP or BNSF?
 
Just to clarify guys I'm not bashing any company or anything. I actually really really like Evo and was looking into this as my new bumper. And I have there skids and DLF. And am saving for the bolt on CO system. I saw his riding partner link to the dring and the other jk pull him out. He was in a deep mud pit. None of us are dumb enough to use the stinger as a pull out point so no it wasn't user error or looking for sympathy. I highly doubt he ran the line above the stinger and down into the dring, highly doubt but is a possibility being that I was not the one to connect it. They started pulling him out and then that happened. That's what I saw happened.

To me it makes zero fucking sense. It's not possible. If you pull from d ring if anything fails it's the d ring or shackle tab. That's why in first post I said idk how this happened and posted it in random photos instead of a new thread. My brother will try to get to bottom of it in the mean time

I know and I never said what your stating. I'm in my jeep and there pulling him by the d ring connected to shackle tab. I hear and see something and run over and now the stinger is teeter tottering on the line like a balancing act. Winch hook is still connected to the d ring which is still connected on the shackle tab. That's why it doesn't make sense to me. Physics wise it doesn't make sense, retard wise it doesn't make sense. Doesn't make semse

Union Pacific. It was a loaded ballast train. The previous crew got a drawbar also. They ran the power around to run west and forgot to untie the rear of the train. It never set off a hotbox detector. I sucked the whole drawbar out. Lol.
I've only snapped 3 trains in the last 10 years. Not too bad.

I'm thinking this is what does make sense. I'm guessing the line was routed above/around the stinger or some other nonsense.

I agree with the above comments where is the top plate and bolts for the stinger? Is he running a stinger other than an EVO stinger?

No shit. I never knew you worked for UP. I worked for BNSF for three years and somehow got a MOW job at BART. I miss The real railroad and I'm thinking of going back. Good to see other people from the railroad on here. 3 trains isn't bad at all. They break all the time over Donner. Poor train handling or lack of experience. Are you out of the powder river area?

Denver service. My run is from Rawlins Wyoming to green river Wyoming.
