MedixJK build thread

Yea i mean, i know i can get a oem for cheap, grind it down and itll work fine im sure... but for not having to mess with it and have a little bolt protection too, i figured why not beef it up just a bit.

Yep. Same pros here. I had to do my fluid change after the gear swap anyway, so at the same time, why not.

Finally got a chance to play around a little bit... better than what i expected really.

Got this in the mail to tie up up one of my loose ends... figured it doesnt cost that much compared to some so might as well.

I'm looking at these, the American rebel ones that say jeep, or the Dynatrac ones. I got my front one this weekend I guess and put a nice dent in it.

I paid like 90 somethin i think. I liked the dynatrac one but its up closet to 170. I just cant see spending that on it for no real reason.

The main reason for the Dynatrac is that one day I plan on a PR44 and my OCD won't let me run two diff brands/styles of diff covers. So I was thinking of getting them now and just selling the front one whenever I jump to the PR44 since it has one already. I'm also glad I like the look of their covers cause there are other brands I can't stand the look of and only Dynatrac makes the one for the pro rocks. Lol.

So im trying to lay out the framework for the next part of my build and as always, opinions are wanted & welcome...

Heres what im thinking:

-Front 44 axle (rubi takeoff, mopar crate or dynatrac (maybe))
-37x12.50(or 13.50?) Trail Graps or STT Pros
-Level 8 Bully Pro wheels
-Warn Zeon
-Evo weld-on sliders
-Regear
-Rear locker (unknown)
-Crawler Conceptz tire carrier

Feel free to weigh in.

If you regear you might as well put a locker in at the same time.

I'd hold off on the tire carrier until you are ready for the 37s. If you get the STT pros you might save enough to get the carrier as well for the cost of the TG but I have not checked prices.

I'd also get the wheels at the same time as the tires so you can sell your current setup all at once.

Have you spoken with Dynatrac on options that you can order?

I'd do the winch since its the only area you don't have covered. Plus it can make up for not having lockers. ;)

Im with you on all of the above lol. My hope is to do it all together-ish. If not all at once, itll all be done except for the axle, which may be later this summer. In all honesty, i want a 44 to be able to hold up to the 37s, but i also dont know that i wheel hard enough and often enough to justify the dynatrac. Happy wife, happy life right? Lol

If you get the 37s now you might break enough to have your wife want you to get a PR44. :yup:

Get the sliders first. Then get the Dynatrac, regear the rear the same as the front and get ARBs. Because we all know that's what you really want! Get the new wheels and tires after that, then winch and tire carrier last. Boom!

Its really more about how much total money im gonna be able to get away with using, so im trying to find a happy medium. While a dynatrac would be nice, ill just have to see how this all pans out. Do i want it? Yes. Do i need it? Probably not. Lol ill just have to see how much money is available.

I agree with all of this except for the winch last^^ deff sliders/winch first, don't regear/lock the rear till you decide on a front, then worry about wheels and tires.

I will tell you one thing I have learned. You say you probably wont use it hard enough to need those things. However once you have it ill be willing to bet you will be using it like you dont think.

This is basically gonna be a lump sum deal, so once i know the size of the sum, ill know which front im getting ;-) everything will probably be bought as fast as i can get it installed.
