Cordless Impact Gun?

Ive yet to see anyone comment in the Bosch IDH182, I'm somewhat torn between it and the Milwaukee 18v fuel. The Dewalt was my first and only cordless impact

Need to replace my Dewalt which spun its last bolt yesterday. Well to be perfectly honest I murdered it... left it on the hood took off down the street on some honeyed mission and it ended up in opposite traffic, thus endeth the dewalt. On the bright side I get to buy a new one

I'd be looking at the IR W7150, Milwaukee 2763, or if you're a DeWalt fan the new DCF899HP2. IMO those are the best cordless impacts currently on the market.

So my initial impression, as compared to Dewalt, Ryobi, Toshiba, and Makita I've previously owned.

Holy moly I love these tools!

I've used the impact enough to wear down both batteries to zero, and it is fantastic. The hammer drill is just as good. I honestly can't imagine better for the price. Apparently my wife does not agree, she feels the one sold at Harbor Freight would have been just as good. :cheesy:

As a tech I first bought snap on and Matco electric impacts.. Had issues and are stupid expensive to fix or get batteries for... And their warranties suck.. Second go around Milwaukee 1/2 impact will brake semi lug nuts with ease.. Go to Home Depot or wherever and get parts and their warranty is better..

Just replaced my wheel spacers with different ones last night. So 40 lug nuts basically. I have a Ryobi P261 that did just fine and had 50% left on the extended battery. No issues at all. I can tell by the way it took off the lug nuts that it would probably struggle with a large track bar bolt or rusted undercarriage stuff.

I got the Milwaukee fuel 18v 1/2 in impact for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Made my PR44 install much easier to deal with than when I swapped out my rear axle with manual hand tools. I use it all the time. It will spin lug nuts easily. Portable enough to carry with me on trails. Battery life is excellent.

As much as i hate to say it, we've used Steve's Milwaukee and my dewalt hand in hand, and his Milwaukee out performed my dewalt ten fold. It broke bolts mine couldn't all day long. Needless to say, he's converted me [emoji23]

We only use Milwaukee where I work because they are tough as nails and the warranty is awesome.

My basic cordless stuff is Ridgid X4 so I bought the 1/2" X4 stand alone impact driver and so far I've liked it. Decent power at about 320 odd ft pounds of torque. Have the cheaper Craftsman Evolv deep impact sockets in metric and SAE and have had 0 problems removing anything on my truck or Jeep.

But I live in MT. No salt on the roads so corrosion build up & excessive rust isn't an issue out here.

My only issue is remembering to charge the batteries and actually put them in the Jeep before heading out on the trail. :doh:

Our guys use Ridgid on the job but are making the switch to Milwaukee due to the availability of specialty power tools and tool/battery size for the 18v stuff.

I love my dewalt 20v brushless 1/2". I too have standardized on the 20v dewalt, have the 1/2 3/8 and 1/4 hex guns, love them.

I voted the 20volt max to standardize as well. Grinder, impact gun, 1/2" hammer drill, some stupid cutting tool that vibrates a lot. Also got a nice car charger for the batteries that kicks ass.

Lowes had a fathers day sale and I picked up a Porter Cable combo kit for $200. Pretty good deal if you ask me

I was using a craftsman 19v but it was pretty much worthless, wouldn't break the bolts loose on the wheels, control arms or anything that was torqued and the battery life sucked. I always had to use my breaker bar to loosen the wheel bolts 1st but even then the battery would get so weak it wouldn't last for the 4 wheels to remove (after I already broke them loose by hand) and tighten, usually died by the 3rd wheel when tightening.

The Milwaukee is fantastic! I can break and tighten all the wheels including the spare and it still has battery life to spare. I hadn't had a chance to really use it so a couple of days ago I removed and reinstalled the nuts on all 5 wheels then loosened all the control arm bolts and tightened. didn't have to break out the breaker bar once.

Anybody have the Dewalt 20 volt max 1/2 inch impact? I have the 5 piece Dewalt set and have thought about adding to it instead of getting the Milwaukee stuff. Just because I already have this stuff and it works great for what it is. Just curious how the impact works. If also like to add the cordless 4 1/2/ inch grinder.
