I feel like i am about to ask a dumb noob question but i honestly dont know

Do i already have TPMS sensors in my 12' sport?

was looking into buying a set of rims from a guy on craigs list and he was asking if i would need the TPMS sensors included as he would like to keep them if he can.
I really have no clue if i have them on my 2012 sport or not and dont know how or where to look for them to see if i do.

Anyone have an idea?

Do you have a, "menu," button on your steering wheel, like this?

Yes I do...... 10 char

With the key in the run position, press the bottom left compass button once, so that the compass and temperature show on the speedometer. Next, press the menu button 4 times, and you should see, "TIRE," in the display. It will show your current tire pressure, unless you bought the Jeep used, and someone has zeroed the TPMS system with a programmer.

So pressing the menu button I get mpg, distance to empty, timer, units, system OK, personal settings, then back to the compass.

I did buy the jeep used from a dealership so I have no idea what was programmed if any, and no I haven't had the low tire light pop up but I just bought it last week

i pulled up the options report using my Vin and one of the lines says "LABS : Tire Pressure Monitoring Waring LP"

not sure if that is the same thing but it sounds right?

i guess its possible to just air down one of the tires and see if the light comes on??? I guess that would only work IF its equipped and they are all working and it wasnt programmed to 0

To be clear, The sport models may also have TPMS. I have the STEP and RESET buttons, and still get alarms if a tire goes low. Saved my bacon twice already.

Agreed. Our sport has the system as well. Currently disabled though :D

Yeah, I've only run a Sport-S and Rubicon, so I didn't know how the system worked in them. All JK's come with TPMS from the factory, and will be there, unless a previous owner has removed them.

the joys of buying a used vehicle haha

So i guess if ALL JKs came from the factory with them then mine should have them in there and the fact that im not seeing a tire PX thing come up in my menu should mean that someone either took them out or disabled them? Some college level logic there haha

So if i let the guy keep his sensors like he wants to and for some reason i take these over to discount tire to mount and they do not have sensors can i just get them installed without any sensors? I couldnt care less if i have a little light pop up telling me my tires are low, its not my DD and i can check the PX myself. I just dont want the computer freaking out on me and going limp mode because of something stupid like not having TPMS. Or to end up running into discount tire not wanting to install them without sensors and then going to have to buy some

Let air out of a tire to 25 lbs or so, and see if you get a warning. You may have to drive around the block a few times to get the low pressure indication.

I dont have an air compressor so i could just let some air out and then drive down to a gas station with air haha that might work out maybe ill try that

I think the light comes on at anything under 36 if I remember right, so even at 30 it should trip the light. We run ours at 29 cold all the time.

TPMS sensors are not that expensive, on Amazon, if you want to run them. When I put tires on my last Jeep, I deleted them, and zeroed the TPMS system with a Procal, when I adjusted for larger tires. I have them in the current rig. Got them from Amazon, and set them for 31 lbs, so they'll notify me if I get to 25. I run the tires at 30, right now.

Well I guess really if I just let this dude keep his sensors and it turns out I don't have any then oh well I just won't run any. Like I said I really don't care either way if I have them or not I just don't want to end up having discount tire say they WON'T install them unless I have them
