Personally, I've never been a fan of spacers. Especially the chinese knock-offs. I think you made the right decision, and Steel doesn't look bad at all without them. Can't wait to see it on some 35s! :thumb:

Steel is looking a little scrawnier this morning. After some thought and discussion, I decided to pull the SpiderTrax spacers. I won't need them when I upgrade wheels and tires, so I figured they'd serve me better as cash in my Jeep fund.

I never felt comfortable running the spacers. After my precious experiences and just for piece of mind, I'd just rather not have to run them.

Yeah, I think so too. That being said, the SpiderTrax spacers were top notch quality and I wouldn't recommend anything but them if someone is going to run spacers.

Good choice on the spacers. The only reason I ever ran them before is because I was having serious rubbing issues at full lock. Definitely peace of mind not having them on there at all.

It does not, but then again I'm not fully committed to a full on 35. I'm 50/50 with those and 295s. After getting the wheels/tires I'll gauge how soon I need it and how much I need to save. My wife and I are planning a Colorado trip and I'm not driving all the way to Colorado with these stock Rubi 32s, so the wheels/tires is the immediate fund!

Nothing wrong with 295s or 305s, I think those sizes would be well suited for 3.21 gearing. I have 35s on the 4.10 gearing and have no issues at all; but if I went crazy and bought new axles I'd go up.

The 32s will get you better mpg than 35s. [emoji16][emoji1303]

When we went two summers ago I followed my boss in his four door on my stock rubi take off rims and tires and his dad in his stock two door with the 32s and they went everywhere I went on the trails I went on. I took some different lines on a few spots but I would've tried them and prob would have been fine if all I had were the 32s.

Wheelin' after work!

After a tough 36 hr shift, on my way home I decided to make a detour and go to a trail id been eying for quite some time. It's a mild power line road that's only a half mile long but had some decent scenery. Here are a few pics.
Right after pulling onto it, I went into 4HI. The road had some slick dirt after the rains we've been having.

Most of it was just a slick dirt road, but I finally came to an obstacle that had something to it. It was essentially a wash out that had about a 1.5-2ft ledge that had to be climbed. Here are a few photos. Pictures do not do it justice, the weeds cover it up quite a bit.

After shifting into 4lo, choosing a line to the left, sliding in some mud and slamming my driver's side wheel/tire/LCA(im assuming), I made it up the obstacle and completed the half of mile trail.
Here we are all finished up!

Yeah, and I know for sure that my amount of wheeling would be fine with 295s. My only fear would be a case of the tire regret. After getting 295s... I'd always wonder if I should have just spent the $182 extra for the bigger size.

He is a big deal!!! Now he's moved off to CRAWLorado, picked up a 4dr Rubi, wheels every weekend, and has forgotten about us little people stuck here in Texas!

Yeah, that's what I'll miss most with ditching the 32s. I've enjoyed the great fuel economy and fantastic ride quality, but it looks like 2018 is the year to get serious with wheeling. I'll have had Steel for over 2 years by then, and she is far overdue for some trail use/abuse. I got out yesterday for a very short time and it felt awesome. Having the bigger tires will make it a little better in certain places. I'll have to kiss my great DD ride quality and gas mileage!

I'm still getting 16.5-17 mpg on my 35's and 3.21's. I hope to be re-geared around the first of the year.

you can expect that number to go down with the regear. :yup:


And yes, you can do some impressive things on factory Rubicon wheels/tires. Don't let them hold you back. I wheeled MOST of the 3s and few 4s at hidden falls in my jeep while it was nearly stock... here are some notable pics I happen to still have around.

I wouldn't let 32s stop you from going out and having some fun. I wheeled my Jeep on 31s for 2 years before I finally upgraded to 33s lol. It's all (mostly) about the driver!

Nice! This does look like a lot of fun. I have no doubt their capability will be fine, I just might want a little more if I ever start wheeling this thing :)

Yeah, we have several trips planned with the 32s. Going to a local park for a day trip this Sunday and then a 3 day in Arkansas in October! I'm looking forward to wheeling them!

Wow Nathan just caught with your thread that's some nice pics of Steel on your small wheelin trip can't wait to see more bud.
In response to the stock wheels and tires I wheeled every trail at Uwharrie except Daniel but I hadn't had much experience back then so I chose not to do it. But I remember running about 20psi in the tires that day. Good luck on your decision for 35s.
