Coming up to Speed With Grubbicon

Don't ask the wife, just do it lol.

A high interest loan is just a signature away. Plus you already bent his tie rod.... :cheesy:

Lmao!! Now there you go. Sounds like best option no matter what.

You guys are full of jokes tonight! If I wasn't trying to get out of debt from being an idiot in college, we wouldn't be having this conversation. But then again, I'd have to change so much on the rig to make me happy. Not to mention, I've seen the 5 minute long video of water pouring out of the floorboard drain plugs. :bleh:

Haha I hear ya bud! The only reason I have so much stuff done to my Jeep is because I don't have any student loans. I killed myself working in college lol. Now all the money that would be going to student loans goes to my Jeep lol

Ha, I wish I could say mine was student loan related. I was just a dumbass and spent a bunch of money doing stupid stuff (alcohol, road trips, guns, alcohol, women, my truck, alcohol). BUT I had a blast while I was there!!

Well here is a little update. I decided I cant sell my JK because of the attachment that I have to it. I looked at some TJs and LJs and really like them but when i talked to people about selling mine I just couldnt do it. Maybe one day Ill build my 2dr but for now here we go. Ive decided since im keeping my JK Im going to be giving it its last good step for a bit. Going to finish up working on the tons and get them in. Going to be putting 12" ORI struts on the front and frenching the frame in the rear and going 14" ORIs. Im also going to get an Atlas to put in the Jeep. Im up in the air between the 2 and 4 speed but leaning toward 2 speed right now. Today I decided to do something while sitting around and trimmed the side plates for the truss to fit around the breather on the tube on the rear axle (pictures below). I know Ive said this before but hope to finish finally cutting the last of the brackets off the front axle saturday.

Why the truss? 3 link or triangulated 4 link?

My Jeep is already 3link front and rear and im going to keep my control arm setup for awhile considering Ive only had them for a year. But id like to go triangulated 4link but still a ways out in my future. The front you also have to run a truss because there is no room for upper control arm mounts on the driver side of the axle.

EDIT: If I could go without a truss I probably would. I think they are more work for something that doesnt do much. Im dreading the time it comes to welding to the cast.

Even if your not interested Id like to hear what other think a fair price is for a rig like this.

Well, consider that Dave Roberts is selling his for $65K and it's somewhat similar. He's got 3.6L, Dynatrac FF 60's, 40" Nittos, PSC, DTD, cage, etc. Maybe you'd be in the mid fifties with yours once you get your axles done? Just my guess.

Well didnt work on the axle yesterday cause decided to go deer hunt instead, but did some work today. We cut the factory coil bucket mounts off (still need to be ground to look better), trimmed on the top of the pumpkin to help fit the truss. I also started to take off some of the cast to show the axle tubs. This is definitely gonna be a slow rolling job. Im ready to get to the fun part of welding.

I also ordered my ORIs tonight. I got them from Filthy Motorsports and they say they have stand sizes in stock so hopefully they wont take too long to get. I got 12" for the front and 14" for the rear. They are all anodized black and I also got the standard resis in hopes they will hold up in faster stuff longer before they get funky all though I dont think ill ever have that problem in this side of the country.

Looks like it's coming along nicely man. If I didn't live 5 hours from you I would come over and help you on those axles. And I doubt your shocks will get funky here on the east coast, unless you hit the mall sped bumps too hard lol

Cant wait to see those shocks. I keep checking out their website for ordering a coil rebuild kit for my kings. Very cool all the options you can get through them with colors and stuff as well.

I cant either. Ive never actually seen a set of ORIs with resis in person. I thought about getting a red set, but I figured since it was anodized it wouldnt match and they say they fade faster then the black ones will.
