Dealer Mechanic Sucks

Well just wanted to let steam out. After dealing with dealer for over 3 months. Had a small timing cover leak on my JLU Ecodiesel. After about 1 month and half. Had to get manager involved. Was told I had to wait 30 - 45 days due to no eta on timing cover kit. Got good news after 2 wks. Kit had arrived. Service advisor made me wait another 3 wks to get in, have it replaced. So day comes to get it replaced. They ordered the wrong one.

So that's where I get the manager involved. He gets certain things inline. Still had to order different seals. They all come in 2 wks later. They told me the Wednesday after Labor Day would be ready. Nope finally Thursday. I pick it up, and walk up to my rig. See a leak. Advisor jumps under rig, and says no. You're good! I said you sure. Says yea. Get home oil everywhere. Take it back the next morning, and tech forgot to tighten crank. Or, something like that. Crank seal leaking. Nonetheless when he put my motor back in. He also broke my oil filter housing. So now was told the 15th. Parts on order.

Just got an update, 23rd. Just hating life right now. I know I can't do anything, but wait. Just wish shit would get done right the first time. My rant for today. Sorry to sound like a girl, or B****h. Just miss my rig.

Wow what a bummer! Definitely frustrating especially being a lot of it could have been avoided. Hope it gets fixed up soon and for the final time!

Safe to assume you were getting this work done under warranty? It'd be the ONLY reason for me to use most dealerships. There are a few good ones out there but they are far and few between. Sorry to hear about your experience.

My Jeep service advisor doesn’t even know anything about Jeeps, lockers, or really anything about wheeling period. It’s comforting to know that he’ll be the one handling warranty claims. At least he’s not a pompous ass like the previous guy.

I'd only go to Bob Baker CDJR in Carlsbad, California. Aside from never answering the phone, the staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. That sucks you've been away from your Jeep that long. Someone definitely fucked up.

Can confirm stealerships have earned their name... Im on month 5 and my 3rd PCM 2nd alternator and 2nd set of batteries on my 21 Wrangler... In this latest round they have had my jeep since June and they are telling me it will be mid October before they get the parts this time... Every time I talk to them the date is further away....

That’s a lemon

This explains why we haven't seen you on a run since Memorial day weekend

There are just no good techs left anymore these days. I’m a tech at a GM dealer and all my service manager can hire is oil change kids that don’t know their ass from their elbow.
Seems like the last five years or so have gotten really bad. No critical thinking skills, but I also question if they've had anyone to properly train them. These people are clueless.

Seems to be across the board, not just dealership mechanics. Even other folks in the dealership seem to be getting way worse. When I bought this JK is had a hard top and side steps on it, but it also had a soft top, factory rock rails and jeep brand floor liners inside. When I got there to pick it up, soft top was in the back but rails and liners were missing. Asked the sales guy about the rails (I didn't notice the liners missing until I got home). He said, "oh I think I saw them sitting in the detail area. They were kind of dirty and kind of big so we didn't figure you'd want them." Told him I did and he acted like it just put him out to go get them. Noticed the liners missing when I got home so I mentioned it the next day. Almost a week later and I have no answer on them. He's been "to busy" to find out about them.

If you really want them, keep bugging him. Sales people are notorious for talking with no action. If he doesn't get the job done, move to the sales manager.

I'm calling tomorrow morning. If he doesn't get back to me by lunch I'm calling sales manager. I want the liners, I'm definitely not letting it go.

It's amazing what leaving a message for the manager gets you. They magically appeared in a storage room and got shipped to me. PXL_20220923_002836219.jpgPXL_20220923_002836219.jpg

:ROFLMAO: oh no I'd be pissed. They were supposed to be in there when I picked it up but they had been "misplaced". In other words, someone sat them aside in hopes of taking them home.

Well after a total of 4 months of dealing with the dealer. Finally complete. Started in June, and now it's almost Halloween. Can't be more excited, happy, or just feel good. To finally have my rig back. From ordering the wrong part, to the tech putting in the part backwards. None the less its done, and ready. Have a good one!
