DIY console?

So I'm in the works of making one of these! I saw on another forum a guy did and it was amazing! I cant afford to do what he did and I'm also doing mine by trial and error! Here are the pics so far. At this point we just took some measurements and cut 1/4 inch plywood to create the two side panels and in closure.

We then attempted to use bondo-glass to try and reinforce it and waterproof it but it didn't turn out the way we wanted so we ended up nixing it all together.

Once we got the bondo-glass removed, we skinned the box with regular bondo to try and give the console a smooth texture.

We are planning on painting the console black and making a laser etched plexiglass panel for switches and face plate for the cb. We also plan on going with a few red LED lights attached inside so at night the laser etching will illuminate red!

We are thinking about wrapping the console in black plexiglass also but haven't firmly decided! What do y'all think?

Hope this helps and y'all enjoyed! I will try to keep taking pictures and keeping y'all up to date as I go!

Looks great so far, can't wait to see the finished product.

After a while we finally got everything sanded down, primed and painted! We put about 5-7 coats on it ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1399411604.514630.jpg ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1399411617.332644.jpg
We cut a hole on the back portion to allow wires and for easier cb installation.

We are waiting for a response from a few companies that do laser cutting and etching before we proceed further. I know the pictures are a bit dull but once we get the plexiglass and LEDS installed everything will pop and look sharp.

I'm sorry for the delay. Have had a lot going on recently. I finally got the acrylic laser cut and painted! ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1405353578.321600.jpg ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1405353623.103679.jpg ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1405353637.788406.jpg
Eventually I'm hoping to get my winch wired to the illuminated kill switch and toggle switch. I'm also hoping to install some LED's for backlighting behind the acrylic.
