Can anyone on here help out a newbie. Got a ck engine light, and checked it. Says EGT sensor 1. Can anyone tell me where that is. I have a 21 JLUR ecodiesel. Can not for my life, find where it is. Apparently there is 4 on it. Just not sure where #1 is. I know 3 apparently are on the down pipe and exhaust. As for #1 no clue like I said prior. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Contacted Jeep wave no help from highers. Cannot give it out. Told me to go to dealership. I already talked to dealership they don't know. So any help would be greatly appreciated

Code P2080 is EGT Sensor 1. Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1/1 is located at the outlet of the Exhaust Manifold. It sends a signal to the PCM indicating the temperature of the exhaust gases exiting the Exhaust Manifold. This is a 1-trip fault. The PCM illuminates the MIL lamp immediately when the diagnostic runs and fails. The PCM will also disable active regeneration mode. The PCM will turn off the MIL lamp after the diagnostic runs and passes on four consecutive drive cycles.

No bought Sensor going to turbo, my bad. So does it go backwards exhaust to turbo.

So bank 1 (only 1 bank anyway) sensor 4. So sensor 4 is gonna be post dpf filter. Two things can set this from my GM experience.

1. The dpf is clogged and you need to drive it on the highway to get it to perform a regen and clear out the soot. Exhaust temps will usually hit around 1100* during a regen. If it’s clogged sensor 4 will be below 1000*.

2. Sensor is shot and prob reading some 2000* while at idle on a cold start. In that case replace the sensor then drive it on the highway and get your jeep to force a regen of the dpf.

For the regen you have to drive consistently over 55mph for a long time for it to regen properly and burn off the soot. Or if your scanner is capable you can force it to do a service regen in your driveway where it will high idle for 30 mins

Thank you guys for the help! Newbie and trying to get this figured out if it's just a Sensor.

Want to thank you for the help again. After u telling me. I found Sensor 3 stuck at 1862 not changing at all. Would I be able to clean the Sensor until new one gets here. Or, is that a no go. Thanks again for the help

Na sensor is shot. Diesel powertrain/emission coverage is usually pretty good. GM would cover up to 100k. Would recommend calling your dealer to see if you’re still covered under warranty. Not sure how many miles molar covers for. If not under warranty then replace the sensor.

Changed out sensors 3 and 4. Still got ck engine light. Do you know what it could possibly be. I'm dumb founded as of now. Think the reader from Advance Auto not reading right.

Usually on a diesel you need to drive them or force tests to be run for it to clear. At least that’s what I used to have to do at the GM dealer. Try disconnecting the battery to let it do a hard reset then drive it.

You know how long to leave, disconnected. Ie... the neg terminal correct

make sure you disconnect the aux battery as well - if it has one, not sure if the diesel has the dual batteries.
Disconnect the pos as well to let the entire system discharge, 30 minutes should be long enough

Wanted to post the final thoughts on what was wrong with my rig. So after $700 in sensors. Finally had it looked at by a shop. Took them all day to figure it. But got it figured out. It was the harness that was to close to the exhaust up front between motor, and exhaust. Ended up melting the wires together, or some that caused egt 1/3 to short out. After another $850 finally fixed. Apparently a few years ago the put something out about that. Don't know why they didn't do a recall on the ecodiesel. But, really lesson learned.

Just want to thank to everyone that helped me out. Appreciate a forum like this, that people are responsive when a question is asked, or help is needed. Thanks again

wow, that sucks on such a new vehicle, I'd reach out to Jeep Cares (bad name these days) and try to get them to pay for the repairs.
