Jeeper Experience: This is what the whole "Jeep Thing" is all about

This is a post I posted over on JK-Forum, but felt like it would go well here at wayalife, because this is what it is all about.

Ok, here is the original thread, http://www.jk-forum.com/showthread.p...anopolis.-Help!

Anyway, I'm 400 miles from home at a class here in Indianapolis, my brakes start squealing like crazy, very bad, very loud, can't roll down the windows loud, people looking at me with a horrified look loud.
I post the above post in the Tech forum. I was ready to go to a dealer, Midas, etc to get it fixed, then I get the post from 616fun that states, "Shoot me a pm. I'm 20 min from your class and have all the tools we'll need to sort this out." We go back and forth through PM, a phone call, and a few texts. It's all set. This was Monday, less than 24 hours after my call out, everything was set up for tonight. I show up tonight, meet Shelby first, the boxer, then 616fun, then his kids, then his wife. They welcomed me into their home, fed me dinner, great conversation. Headed to the garage, where we, or he as I mentioned in the other thread, fixed up the Jeep, talked, enjoyed a beverage. Afterwards, we talked for awhile longer. I'm back at my hotel, all set for my 400 mile trip home in the morning.

THIS is what Jeep'n is all about. I can't put into words the gratitude I have. This is phenomenal. I thought I would say something like, I don't know how I can repay 616fun, but it's not what I can pay, it is what I can do. I will answer the call when someone is need. This is what the Jeep way of life is about. This is why we wave at each other, this is what it is all about!

Like I said, I don't think what I have said above really relays the gratitude I have for 616fun and his family, but it needs to be said, that Jeepers rock!

Great story, and I'm glad it all got worked out for you. Believe me there are awesome people in this community. Please pay it forward should the chance allow.:)

NOW he "Understands the Jeep Thing"...

So I was settling down for a quiet evening when I got a text from a friend with this picture attached...

attachment.php

My friend was out running through some wheeling areas and ran across these folks really stuck. So I loaded up and headed out to see if I could lend a hand. It turns out the stuck vehicle was a Hummer H3. He was stuck good, deep and had a broken tie rod on the right. Anyway several of his friends had been trying for hours to get him out by the time we got there. We hooked him up to the JK Rubicon and pulled him right out. Then we pulled the H3 up to the edge of the 15 foot bank, disconnected, took the Rubicon to the top and winched the H3 the rest of the way.

Then we pulled him out backwards to the road when we saw this bumper sticker on his rear window:

I know it's hard to read in the picture, but it says

"I Understand the Jeep Thing, that's why I bought a Hummer"

He was dutifully humble, thanked us all around and we only gave him a gentle razzing about his sticker. We did remind him that a Jeep pulled out his Hummer....maybe more than once.

I definitely agree with Eddie that the Jeep "wayalife" is much bigger than what kind of vehicle you wheel with - in spite of the sticker, you still did the recovery - much respect!

I just finished reading a post by some guy complaining about discount and crazy ideas about conspiracies, and then i read your post. Thanks to 616fun for helping a brother and thanks for your post telling the story

I have personaly got the phone call drop everything and took off to help or recover someone. I have also placed that call saying help. Only in a jeep. It is a wayoflife

Two great stories here, thanks for sharing. There is no better feeling then having someone help you out when in need. Except maybe helping someone out. It's a wayoflife
:standing wave:

Great story!!!!!

Sometimes we forget about the people that are willing to go out of their way to help out a stranger. I am amazed by your story . I know you made a friend for life and have an awesome story to tell the grand kids. Like you said that's what the JEEP THING is all about. You know somebody out there that is a fellow jeeper is going to help you out. :clap2:
