Possible bad rear drive shaft?

I need some help...

I noticed about 3 days ago that my Jeep's shifter would shudder more violently then what you'd normally expect. I shrugged it off thinking it was probably nothing but after driving it today it's probably something I need to pay more attention too.

What I experience:

If my hand rests on the shifter knob I can physically feel it pull left or right regardless of gear or being in neutral (It's more violent in neutral). While playing around with it I noticed it will mostly happen while applying breaks but applying breaks isn't necessary for it to happen. I inspected the vehicle underneath and immediately noticed one of the bolts missing from the rear drive shaft and the rest were loosen enough that I could twist them by hand.

Here is a video and photos to show you what I'm talking about.

I'm currently thinking about removing the rear drive shaft this weekend and rolling around in 4WD to see if the symptoms persist before I order a driveshaft. Also while doing a quick search on google I couldn't find a driveshaft that mimicked the one I have verbatim. They'd have ujoints where mine has 8 bolts on each end. I have a 2010 Jeep JK Rubicon and any input you have would be much appreciated.

Because both axles are live, it could be potentially either drive shaft. It’s not a bad spot to start. I don’t have a manual in jk, but in my CJ I had a bent axle shaft and it created a similar vibration

I assume you replaced the missing drive shaft bolt and tightened the others. Did that have any effect on your problem? If not, then that suggests the drive shaft may not be your issue.

Check your transmission and motor mounts.
