Probably the coldest part of the trip was in Tonapah. I stopped for gas and when I got out the wind had a serious bite to it and the sprinkling rain was not far from turning into frozen bits. The locals looked at me wearing shorts and probably thought I was just another California invader.


The view as I dropped into the south end of the Carson Valley.









The drive took less time than I thought and was very enjoyable. The traffic was light and the scenery was amazing. I passed by multiple locations that had me wanting to come back to explore further.

Today was a productive day. I had delicious breakfast and then went to work.

The weather is rainy and cold due to a winter storm.






The few times the clouds backed off a bit you could see the snow in the mountains.




Talking to the locals they all took it in stride and welcomed the rain and snow which will replenish the water table. I guess some of the transplants whine a bit when the weather is bad. Personally I like it because I enjoy having distinct seasons. Growing up in Phoenix the seasons were hot, hotter, and hottest. The one thing about living in Virginia is they do have 4 seasons- I was just never home to see them.

While we do not have a home in Nevada yet we do have ‘The Bat Cave’. Big Yellow lives here and we store clothes, camping gear, and Jeep stuff. I spent most of the day sorting through all the stuff and trying to better organize it.

Picked up a bin storage rack at Costco.

Front half doors on the right. Gotta get them painted and find some rears also.

After a cold and wet day working there was only one possibility…..enjoy a delicious Russian River Pliny the Elder… or three.
