Thanks! We're working on uploading all the photos to a shared location, then I'll throw up some more. Hope to make a small DIY style video as well for posterity sake.

More Pics!

All right...some more pics from the trip! I'll try to keep these chronological.

Got some nice mud when running Lime Creek, as seen here in the side mirror:

Just starting the fun part of No Name Gulch (there was an XTerra that turned around at this point):

Halfmoon Creek

After coming down Slide Lake, we started up Halfmoon Creek.

Here is the primary obstacle of Halfmoon Creek, that I got stuck on. My tires weren't quite big enough to get me over that pointy rock by my drivers side front tire:

Once inside the bowl, you just start climbing again:

Ah yeah...

Is that a cave?

We should investigate:

Making our way down, looking for a place to camp:

This was probably the most special night of them all. First we had a great sunset, then it went total dark and we got some awesome pics of the stars, and then the moon came up and lit up all the peaks around us. One of the most special and spectacular sights I've ever been blessed to see.

The next morning we woke to this:

And some crystals on the Jeep. I stayed nice and warm all night in my sleeping bag though:

A quick stop at Twin Lakes for the view:

Then continued on to Buena Vista and up Cottonwood Pass:

Continental Divide!

Met up with two other Jeeps that were also going to run Taylor Pass (we didn't stay together long):

Trail starts out with a pretty steep climb:

Once you reach the top, you end up in a creek which you drive in for about a mile or so:

Made it to the other side!

Our dwelling for the evening:

Ended the day looking back over the valley and the mountains we crossed. I've never felt quite so much like Lewis and Clark. Staring at the Rocky Mountains, knowing I drove over those, that there is wilderness behind me and wilderness before me:

Our last day on the trail began the same way the previous one ended: looking over the valley below and the mountains in the distance.
CO_Epic_Adventure - 269.jpg

We made a fire. Go big or go home:

Taylor Lake:

View from the top, just above Taylor Lake, Maroon Bells in the distance:

Rather than taking Taylor Pass down and ending on asphalt, we continued on with Richmond Hill which took us all the way to Aspen Mountain and down:
IMG_20160822_090901.jpg

Moose! We spotted two bulls.
CO_Epic_Adventure - 377.jpg

Driving Aspen Mountain, under the gondolas and by fences made of skis, is a pretty unique experience:

We were in Aspen and no way I'm letting my buddy go back home without seeing the Maroon Bells up close:
CO_Epic_Adventure - 380.jpg

More amazing scenery:
CO_Epic_Adventure - 384.jpg

Then we drove home, via Independence Pass. It was an amazing 4 days and one which I hope to repeat. It only served to further stoke the fires to get outside, explore Colorado, and get bigger tires so I can bring the family on these adventures in the future.

Thanks for following along! Hope you enjoyed!
