Towing mileage????

Just curious what everyone avgs when they tow and what weights they are towing I picked this tent trailer up today for a sweet deal. Had to drive 318 miles each way. Headed there I AVG 22.1-22.5 and on the way home towing I AVG 16.8 with the AC on all the way. Hit multiple grades that were 6%. Gotta say I'm pretty impressed I've only got 3.73 and I'm running 35s so the people that say 3.73s are doggy curious what kind of mileage you are getting and what rpm do you typically shift at? I use to shift fairly low 1800-2000 I done a little test drove the typical way to work and then tried shifting slightly higher the next day and I gained almost 1 mpg. Pretty shocked for shifting at 2500-2800. Thoughts and you're experiences please. I would love e to hear them!IMG_20170718_131827895.jpg

Over 20 mpg?!? The best I've ever seen, is 19 mpg and that was a slight down hill with a tail wind. I'm running 35s, with 4.10s when I pulled my camper down to Death Valley, I saw average of 11mpg. I don't even want to know what I was getting, when I pulled it up into the sierras. It weighs in around 2000lb loaded

My small trailer for sound gear, weighs about the same, and I see around 13-14mpgIMG_6508.JPG I shift around 2500-3k rpm.

I think it would be important to point out what speed everyone is going when stating their MPG. Other than a Leveling Kit, my stock 16 jkur manual will only get 22 mpg at 55mph. And that is with/without a 300lb aluminum trailer. 16mpg loaded with another 4-500lb yard shrubs/trees coming back at 50-55mph. HWY no trailer at 75-79mph I'll only get 16-18mph. Around town it's always 16.4-16.8

Traverser...you beat me to it. This is the same basic issue I've had with various 'mileage' threads in the past. Without knowing basics, like how fast and type of terrain, there's nothing to compare.

My own JKU-R, leveling lift and still-stock tires, generally flat/rolling hill terrain, is similar to yours:
55 MPH, ~20mpg
65 MPH, ~18.5 mpg
75 MPH, ~16
80+, <15 mph.

Oddly enough, I put on a Magnaflow exhaust for about 5 weeks. During a road trip north at 80MPH, I saw 18-19. Back to stock exhaust, for now, my mileage is right back as noted.

Your gear ratio and tier size plays a part in it as well. In California the max tow speed is 55 mph. Not to say I don't push the limits, every now and then. All my towing is done right around 50-55mph

There's a lot of good points guys. Ive never really looked into the mileage of others jeeps before. I got around 24.5mpg-25.3 when I had my 33s all terrains. Put on 33MT tires and dropped pretty much 1.5 mpg. Now that I'm running 35 inch Toyo at2s I can also definitely say the ATS Vs the Mt the ATs have way less noise and the mpg definitely improves. The Toyo at2s do excellent in the snow and the mud I sipped em and you can't beat the 45k warranty. Last set of these I had on my 03 f250 I got 68k miles before taking them off at 25% tread. I'll post my mph and AVG mpg in a little while
