Brother and I were replacing front axle shafts on a 2015 Rubicon and this part was found inside the front locker. Any idea of what it is?

does your front locker work? are there any gear teeth broken?

that looks more like a tool than a locker part, maybe part of an inner seal installation tool?

We did not take the locker out. But from what we can see all the teeth are still intact.
Locker still works, the light on the dash stays on when it's engaged.

Since the time of posting we stopped by the dealer and they said it might be a seal installation tool or part of the plunger of the locker sensor.

But have ruled out it being part of the locker sensor by looking online for replacement parts for the sensor.

Here is a size comparison with the part I question and a AA battery.

Guess I should also note that the front diff has never been opened since the jeep was bought in October 2014.
Jeep has about 26,000 miles in it.

I think your answer is in the bottom left corner of the pic. Someone is missing part of their puller...
