Nice. I would love 37"s but I like to keep a low height and lots of flex so im kinda stuck with 35". Considering doing shaved front and rear axles instead.

Also I have removed the gas tank so that gained me 3" of clearance.

Hi Ollie,

I couldn't agree more with you!! In UK it's 90% Land Rover and their narrow minded owners. We can't even find a Jeep magazine in UK but there is half a dozen for Land Rovers and the likes!

Starting your own Jeep Garage ? I know a few Jeep owners who struggle to find decent mechanics in their area so that might be a good idea, and if you specialise in the off roading preparation you could become quickly popular.

Do you drive to go to work in Gravesend? If that's the case if you ever take your JK with you someday we could arrange to meet there otherwise if there was a Jeep event in Cambridgeshire sometime that would give me an excuse to go your way.

First, welcome. if your after a good magazine and if you have an ipad download and subscribe to JP magazine...
nice looking JK, i used to live in Weymouth Dorset but now i'm happy to say i'm back in the Aussie heat..
love the camo on the KJ too that looks awesome..

Hi Hillz,

Thanks for the compliment about my KJ. It's not paint it's done with Vinyl Wrap patches so it's removable whenever I feel like it.

Thanks also for the info about JP mag, my girlfriend has got an Ipad so I will have to nick it from her.;)

I replied to your post before reading this one so don't be too surprised I didn't know that you used to live in UK.

I can't blame you for returning to OZ and not only for the weather. UK is not a bad country but things has changed for the wrong reasons since I moved here 20 years ago. I love Australia and I tried to find work there few years ago but I started looking seriously a bit too late. Once you get close from the 45 years old Visa threshold employers have to explain why they would employ an " old foreigner" instead of forming a young local guy. Which makes sense really but that in itself is a deterrent. So now at the great age of 49 I would need a Lottery Jackpot to be able to move there.:daydream:

But hey ! We never know ! Lol

So tell me a bit about you please. Are you from Western OZ and moved back or are you from UK?

Sorry but not sure about this one. What do you mean by shaved axles?

"Also I have removed the gas tank so that gained me 3" of clearance."

Really?? Where is your gas tank fitted then?

Yeah i was born in West Aus and moved to Weymouth when i was 13 with my mum and sister to look after my grandparents and then after 6 years one passed and the other moved to London to live with my aunty so we used that as a good excuse to come back home.

I have moved the gas tank to the rear under the floor. I cut out the cargo tray and removed the exhaust. Then got a custom aluminium tank made. Shaved axles are stock axles with the bottom cut off and a steel plate welded back on to improve clearance.

Hi Cyberil,

I believe you are also a member of the UK Jeep Owners Club, am I right?

Great looking JK you've got there!! :thumb:

If it was not a RHD with the Top and Doors removed it would look like a Jeep from California or Florida not UK ! Lol

Saying that the Summer last year was really Hot !! :sFun_hot:

Did you drive it like this for a while? :driving:

Hi Chris

Yes I'm on the UK Jeep Club. Had the doors off last summer for 2-3 weeks continuously. The secret is to put a Bestop cover or similar on the Jeep at night to stop any rain or condensation. In fact today I'm going to order some tube doors for the summer as it's pretty scary at 80 mph on the motorway with no doors.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the tip about the Bestop cover. I don't intend to remove the doors of my JK but if we have a hot summer again I might go Topless for while. I've never driven my Jeep with the roof off yet and that's something I really look forward to do.

Driving on the motorway without doors? Bloody hell !! I didn't even know that was legal !!
Where in your opinion would be the best place to order a Bestop cover? I mean US with import duty :twocents: ?
Or do you have a good address in UK?

Hi Chris. I regularly drive without roof or doors in the summer here in england. The cops have gone past me with a smile and a nod but never been pulled for it. Not saying they wont try one day but not happened yet.

Hi Ollie,

As I was telling Paul earlier I haven't tried my JK without the roof yet but if we are lucky again this summer and the weather is good I will definitely give it a go.:fingerscrossed:

I don't intend to remove the doors though but that must give the driver such a feeling of Freedom to drive in the open air just wearing Sun Glasses, T.Shirt and shorts !!

There really is nothing like driving with the top/doors off, its absolutely fantastic!!! In the summer here in the us when im not at work i always wear shorts and sandals and driving down the road with no top or doors and your foot out in the breeze is about as good as it gets! Untill your tires throw a rock and it cranks you right in the foot that is...
