What was done to your rig this week?

I bought the same sliders for my new JLUR (that is supposedly on the way). What do you think of them? Any issues with handling the abuse you throw at them?

Did you order the Rock Hard 4x4 Patriot Angled Up ones? I have those on my JLR and so far they have held up great, bounced off some hard-pack caliche with the full weight of the Jeep and zero issues!

I mistook Trailhunter’s welded on EVOs for the ones I bought. I bought the DV8 bolt on tubular sliders that are angled just like the Rock Hards that you mention. I am glad to hear that you’re digging yours and that they can take a hit. It looks like the materials are similar thickness and construction is close etc. so I should be good.

Mounted this up last Saturday and got it balanced today. My replacement 37 which was damaged when I was PIT'd by a tow truck. Doing some further inspection it actually was a side swipe. I can see marks from his rim all down my slider. I think I faired pretty well all things considered.

Also wanted to shout out to my local America's Tire. Had my replacement in, in two days. They needed my old one to send back. They had no problem removing the old and popping the new on on as long as I removed the ring. I'm glad I happened to bring my impact as I was going to ask them if they would anyway...haha. 20220302_102601.jpg

More of a “what did you buy” today … found a smokin’ deal on a Rugged Ridge Venator front bumper on FB Marketplace so bought that! Need to get the stubby end caps for it and the skid plate but thats it so for roughly $370 I’ll have me a nearly $900 bumper 👌

*yes I would’ve preferred an EVO 1/4 pounder or a Warn stubby bumper but I never see used ones I can afford so going this route for now.

Had a bunch of projects sitting around because I've been putting off the wiring headache but did firewall pre-wiring today.

I took the portions of wiring that required passing thru the firewall plug and took care of that part of the wiring.

Fed all wires thru the firewall, then from inside the Jeep I was able to feed them thru the Daystar firewall plug and pulled the plug from the inside out with all the wiring. The design of the plug made it easy to get ahold of it and easily pull it thru.

Tomorrow if it's not raining I will install the switch panel, rockslide engineering steps, kc lights.

If I get 1 project completed I'll be happy lol

Then I washed it to get some pics of before. I’m removing rear bumper and I have Rubi fenders coming. Front bumper will be gone too. I know it’s just pics of a stock Jeep, but porn is porn. 😜 I also found a set of Rubi rails for now.1C551C1D-E8BA-48E5-9146-47A2BF1873D2.jpeg

Not a fun “what did you do” but I locked my key in Bluey and the wife’s key is 60 miles away in the Tiguan (she went out of town for the week) 🤦‍♂️ Big dumb on my part but also on her for not leaving me the spare key, right? 😅

$134 pop-a-lock later (covered by insurance) and we’re all good.

This all being said; never a more prevalent time to get a JLU with all power everything, eh? Well we just might be getting a second JLU (but a Sport S) soon … just depends on whether it’s actually still available or not. The dealer who has it in transit is notoriously slimy but they won’t do a dealer trade (it’s a fun color that’s highly desirable so I get why they don’t want to…I just hate this ‘ship). We’ll see tomorrow! Purposefully not saying what color yet.

*update: for those in the area, never go to San Antonio Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Go to Boerne, Ancira, or Bluebonnet. Fuck SA CDJR. Basically I was all lined up to buy a tuscadero JLU Sport S for my wife today but then those asshats said “oh, sorry, that one’s actually already spoken for…they ordered it” what the actual f. Why wouldn’t you tell me that as soon as I started inquiring about it? You knew I wasn’t looking for anything else but a tuscadero JLU. That’s the second time I’ve personally had a bad experience and my dad had a bad experience before too (but back in 2009 or so). Won’t ever go back there.

*edit continued: so…now my wife and I will be buying a 22 JLU Willys Sport with hard top and 2.0T at a dealer in Austin. We’ll now have Hydro Blue and Tuscadero JLUs lmao we’ll be nicknamed the cotton candy keepers I bet 🤣

bought a Tuscadero Willys Sport for the wifey.

Edit: here’s the details - 2.0T, hard top, manual windows and locks (thus the Sport aspect of it). Really love and hate it cause it’s what I want Bluey to be (more or less) but it’s fuckin’ pink lmao she absolutely loves it though so I’m stoked about it too. Now I’m dying to lift Bluey, but a front bumper on it, and get KM2s (or steal hers lmao)
