So I have this rattle under my 08 dr, I'm half deaf so I can't really hear it to well but it's driving the wife nuts, do anyway I'm underneath looking for a clue and as I tap on the evap can,(I think that's what it is) it rattles kinda loud, it's coming from this part on the end, is it suppose to do that and if not can it be replaced without replacing the whole box?

What?

Kidding. Do you have a picture?

It's called the "detector," the parts manual says "Service with the canister also," and the part number isn't found on various sites. I'd say you're probably out of luck unless you pick up the whole assembly, but you may be able to order that p/n (04891685AA) directly from a dealer parts dep't.

That's a hell of an answer for 3 something in the morning PST!!!

I'm surprised you weren't throwing the "Gascap" or "MIL" lamp on your dash. I'll be interested to hear if you can push the whole thing back together or if you need to get a whole new EVAP w/connections to fix it.

I'm not even sure if it's bad..but it does rattle..

i'm pretty sure that it does rattle so it's probably okay. if you really do need to replace it, you would have to get a whole new evap assembly as mmccurdy said.

i have seen on a few 2-doors where a hard plastic line near the transmission crossmember on the passenger side of the jeep would tap on the bottom of the tub. i would look around here.

Thanks for the info.. It must be on the passenger side cause she hears it more than I do, only when you throttle up to shift..

if i recall, it's a black plastic hard fuel line or check valve line. if you look, you'll see it and you can tap it on the bottom of your tub to recreate the sound. have your wife listen for it and let you know if it's it.
