Funny thing is that I didn't even consider it a good deed or anything like that. The way I was raised, you help out when you can because it is EXPECTED of you, not to get you Kharma points. And that's what got me wondering WTF is wrong with people?
And while I'll admit that I did a threat assessment when I pulled up and I had my head on a swivel, both things I do when encountering unknown people and situations, I'm not going to let fear stop me from helping when I can.
I could understand somebody not stopping on a busy freeway because there is a very real chance of becoming another casualty there and in some cases the best thing you can do is to report to others who are better equipped to deal with the situation. But to not take a few moments out of your day to help a neighbor who is already having a bad day (car won't start) just takes the cake.
