Beware!! - EVO Protek Skid Plates

This happened today. This Jeep has not seen much more than a dirt road and hasn’t even seen that in three plus years. Mounts on the oil pan skid broke clean off, not at the weld, at the steel itself.

I would check this stuff if you have it on your jeep next oil change you have so you can fix if needed. I had recently done an oil change and it was not like that. As you can see, there isn’t even a scratch on either skid so it didn’t happen from a hit.

Well ain’t that some crap. Literally. Maybe it’s the new breakaway style….

All jokes aside, that really sucks. Surely someone important here will notice and do something about it.

Bummer, see what happens when you don’t beat on your Jeep! Seriously though, that could be bad if you took a hit on a rock and that ripped off

Yes 12-18. It did not break at the welds. The steel itself broke in front of the welds. The welds are still fully intact.
When, approximately, did you buy them? Now I need to go and inspect both of my JKUR’s. I wonder if there was a bad batch of steel.

Thanks for posting this up. I'll check mine. I purchased them back in 2012. Seems like a freak thing. Have you talked to EVO yet?

Just saw this... wow! I really wonder how the hell that happened?

Guess I'm glad that we're not running any.

Checked mine, and my only issue is a bend where the front Driveshaft comes out from behind. The fold on the edge narrows there and could be explained by that...

Had mine for 5 years now and wheeled hard when it's out. Was low crawling on the plates for the first 2 years (33"s and 2-inch lift on a JKU).

Definitely going to check mine. I think I purchased a set around the same time as you. I'm sure that made a hell of a noise while driving... I'm certain EVO will warranty the skid...
