Fox 2.0 Res shocks stiff?

I'm getting new shocks and most likely getting the Fox 2.0 Reservoir. Most of the people I talk to that have them swear by them. A shop I'm getting an estimate from is telling me they're too stiff. I've heard they're stiff at first, but break in.

If you have them or have run them, please let me know what you think. I'm looking for a smooth ride and don't want to pay for King shocks.

I have Bilstein 5100's and Evo 4" springs now, looking for a smoother ride on and off road.

The whole point to having a pricey reservoir shock is to soak up the rough stuff and longer. It's hard to do this and still give you a smooth ride on pavement. EVO used to have a set on their EVOlander JK and I thought it rode nicely but then, I tend to like the ride you get with Plush Ride coils and 5100's too.
