Did oil change on my 2012 and I have a question.

I did my 3500 mile oil change today. I know the manual calls for 6 quarts of oil but after I put 6 quarts and changed the filter I started the engine and rechecked the oil. The oil is only on the tip of the dipstick. I know it calls for 6 quarts should I add a little extra to top it off.

if you added 6 quarts, i'd try running your engine a bit and then check it again.

That's what I was just debating. I will try that and post later.

And wait 10 or so minutes after you shut it down to check the level. It takes a little time for it all to drain back into the pan.

I replace the 6 quartz it calls for and done. Don't even check the level. I check it a day or two later. Always spot on.

I ran it a couple of miles to let the oil heat up and checked it and it was fine. Wow this thing must have some small oil passages to keep the oil in the heads. I have built some race car motors and Harley motors and never had the oil take so long to fill the oil pan. Guess its just new technology. Back to the oil change wow that took a $100 bill, 6 quarts Mobil one 5w30, purolator oil filter and K&N air filter. Thanks guys
