3.8L whining noise

My 09 rubi with the 3.8 has had a whining noise forever. I never really thought much of it till a buddy mentioned it. I've had the hood open and had someone rev the engine it sounds like it's more to the drivers side of the engine bay. You hear it mostly at low to mid rpms. But cruising down the highway it seems to be gone. Anyone have an idea? I e replaced the belt and it's still there.

tensioner pulley or alternator bearings?

Yeah, sounds like it could be a bad pulley bearing but, if it's more on the driver side, might be your AC compressor.

Water pump could be bad could be a lot of things

A search and destroy with a stethoscope may help locate the offending bearing/whine. Best of luck!:yup:

Revival! Did you ever find out what it was? I have a bad whining sound and it got worse when I got back from my last MOAB trip.....
