Saharacon Build

Well Figured I need some place to lurk. Why not make a thread for my Jeep then? You'll have to bare with my lack of photos to start this off, my phone wont upload to my Mac. Damn androids

Okay then here we go,

I own a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, She has a nice price tag on her in a Chevy dealership. I traded in my 2010 Mariner looking for something that could actually take on some Back wood terrain.
Thats when I found this pretty Red Rock Sahara sitting in the back. After a few agonizing days at the dealership haggling price I decided that I wasn't getting bent over to badly. I came home with her and Began looking into parts.

Let me say first off, Shoulda bought a Older model wrangler for my first Jeep. JK parts are no f***ing joke when it comes to price.

Just, Empty, Every, Pocket was more true than I would have ever imagined.

Started with a 4 inch lift kit from Skyjacker (Crap Shocks, Nice Coil) Added 35x12.5x15 BFG Km2s I scored on craigslist for 800 all together and a set of Procomp 8s I believe they were.
Found a Local Jeeper selling his Ace Front and Rear Bumpers so i picked those up and made a new friend. Sadly he sold his jeep..... and it wasnt to me :grayno:

I took a break for a year and got used to handling Snow, Ice, Mud, Sand, and rocks with the current set up. Now im starting to pull the trigger on items I actually need while out on the trails.

Im a loner a lot of the time. I travel Backwoods up north very often, building this jeep to get me Home no matter where I go is the biggest objective for the build.

Please feel free to give input on my build, this entire thread will be for discussion debates on what upgrades I should be looking at. Many of you are highly experienced and Ive been lurking for some time now. I trust most of your opinions
Build List:
9000lb Winch
Quick Sway Bar Disconnect
ACE Step Bars
ACE JK Rocker Guards
ACE GateKeeper
Windshield LED Pods
Finish Rocker Lights

Suspension Upgrades to accommodate 38s in the future ill need 5inchs. I was thinking a coilover system but possibly going with a Long arm Kit then adding coilovers.
Ill have ECGS build a dana 44 Front with RCV-35s and Artec truss. thats $5,500 Shipped to my Shop, On to the Heart Transplant

Ill be swapping out the 3.8 for a 5.3 LMG most likely. The LS swap seems to me by far my best option to insure a Long living heart in my beast. I still have a TON of work to do on this aspect of the build but so far it seems I need to acquire my Dana 44 Front to match my Dana 44 rear before this swap will be possible. After which when I reach 38s Ill need to use a Dana 60 rear and Dana 44 front On 5.38s Id love to talk more about this with anyone that has experience in the LS swaps. Ive spoken to quite a few shops and Robbie down in Vegas looks like i could get the 5.3 in for roughly 15,000.00 Not to shabby still a pretty penny but itll be worth it.

Then we drop a dana 60 rear in from ECGS thatll cost another 3,500.00

Lets see what everyone thinks of Saharacon!

Yep I'm using 35x12.5x15 km2s I really enjoy these tires on the road with how quite they are. Off road how ever it seems my treads pack with mud fast

I had to do a double take. There is a guy with the same screen name as you on JK Forum. But he has a different year Jeep than you. He is also swapping the 3.8 for 3.6. For a minute before you posted your build I thought you were the same guy. I was wondering why you wouldn't be searching that info over here. Now I realize your not the same guy.

Looking forward to your build as it progresses!!!

Yea apperntly I have a few other copy cats out there but I secured my user name on WAL atleast!

Right now my biggest obstacle is my family . Just had my first son and now I don't have money for jeep parts :(

The boss gave me a raise though so hopefully I'll be back on track soon. I need a drag link flip kit and my damn step bars. Hopefully the Great Lake 4x4 member selling his Warn winch for 400 will call me back

Got out to the mounds today. Last time I hit this rock hill I was almost bone stock. None the less bottomed out a few times.

Now with 4inch and 35s we cruise right along. Only ran into one issue where my shock mount got hung up.

I'll post a few pictures from today since I can't upload them all from my phone for some reason.

It's not fun unless you get stuck once.

Overall a good day. We ended up becoming the savior for once and helping 2 other tjs get back to the parking lot after loosing 4wd.

Back in the garage ready to work.

Today we are adding limb risers for those narrow trails we love oh so much.

After which we will be adding Rocker Lights and adding a DIY Fuse box plus some electrical clean up.

The box is put together just needs to be wired in and mounted now.

I ran all my wires and covered them with romex. I used 12 Guage Wire used for outdoor electrical boxes. Everything is strapped down and secured away from moving parts along the frame.

Here's where I mounted the rear rocker lights. And I'm still working on the front.

We went with a hidden switch pad for out lights. I like to do things different :sly:

Hey man, so I'm thinking about adding some undercarriage lighting like this and right now I'm leaning towards OROlite, but I wanted to ask you if Rocker Lights is a brand or are you referring to the style of lights as rocker lights? Looking for the best bang for my buck and the ORO's are great just a little expensive. If yours aren't that, what brand are you running?

Use truck bed lights. You can get a pack of 8 lights from amazon for 60$. They work great and hold up well if your not diving into every mud hole getting stuck. After a while I imagine that water would seep in
