Last night at the 2015 SEMA Show, Mopar had a special unveiling of a brand new special edition Jeep JK Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited and in commemoration of the 50th Easter Jeep Safari and the over 50 unique concept vehicles they've made for attendees of the Moab Easter Jeep Safari, they have called this the Red Rock concept. While this JK is just a glorified Rubicon Hard Rock with a lot of badges and a limited 50 total Jeeps being made with them, it should be noted that this concept will also be the very first Jeep to be made and sold from the factor with a set of 35" tires and enough lift to clear them. Anyway, here are some photos from the unveiling.

Here are a couple of group shots of all the people responsible for the Red Rock Jeep JK Wrangler.

That is a really really good starting point jeep! Some may never have to change much at all.

The only thing I find interesting about this JKU is the black exhaust....

I actually really like this one. I think there really wouldn't be much to change for most. I like that it already has a lift, 35s, lockers, CB radio, beadlocks, winch, etc from the factory. If all of that is covered under warranty because it came from Jeep I think it's even better. I bet it's going to be pretty damn expensive though.

I like that the manufacturer is catering to the 'modification' crowd though. More manufacturers seem to being doing that. There is enough people now that want a 'modified' vehicle right away, so having something like that will be nice to 'plug and play' right off the lot. And not have to worry about the service dept saying 'no warranty.'

What is the point in only making 50 of them. This should be the setup for a rubicon.

So this is pretty much my jeep today, less the rock rash and pinstriping!

If I was in the market I would be tempted to buy it like this, but with a limited edition of 50, I can't begin to imagine the price.

Id love to have the wheels, black exhaust and CB.
Oh wait... and the hood

X2. They're probably testing the water. There's a lot to like for the less than hardcore off road crowd. Just a guess, but the price has to be north of $50K.:thumb::thumb:

Other than the red color, this would be the perfect set up for what we want for the wife.

What is the gear ratio? 4.10?

I see now the poster says 4.10.

Did they use stronger C's? Or does mopar expect stock C's to handle 35's?

I really like this. If it was in black it would be perfect, well except for the price. I have the wife talked into a Rubicon Hard Rock next year but no way we could swing something even more expensive.

I like the rock slider, any info on them? They look like mopar slider with dimpled plate added on it.

If I remember correctly, the diff covers are Rancho, just black and Jeep label.

Over $50k is right, maybe close to $60k, but is that really all that bad?

Take a Hard Rock with leather and nav, rock rails, painted fenders and top, etc. @ about $48K, and add in:

*rough costs*
Beadlocks $1500
35" tires: $1600
Winch: $1250
CB/antenna: $200
Mopar lift: $2000
LED lights: $700

Install and warranty is included here, its actually not too far off from what I suspect a lot of people have in their brand new rigs. I know in the DFW area I see plenty of Jeeps with a rough country lift, smitty bilt bumpers all around, winch, 37s on new wheels, 4 lights/light bar, etc. And I would bet that a huge majority of those are not shopping for best prices, or doing the install on their own.

Those are some sexy seats! They remind me of the King Ranch seats in the F series Ford trucks.

So, I was reading an article that explained the reasoning behind this vehicle. Easter Jeep Safari was started by a club called the Red Rock 4x4 Club. Jeep, to commemorate them, named this limited edition 'Red Rock'. This is their 50th anniversary, so only 50 will be made.

it's a tribute Jeep to the Red Rock 4-Wheelers who coordinate the Easter Jeep Safari and also help raise funds to keep trails open - Multiple Use Defense fund (MUD), this is their 50th Anniversary.

This coming EJS should be interesting :thumb:

That's correct. I talked to one of the club members at SEMA and he said #1 would be raffled off at EJS to help raise funds also.

I'm willing to bet those costs will mostly be covered by the mark up on the remaining 49 Red Rocks.

On a more serious note, why can't they use a bead lock wheel where the rings bolt heads are recessed. I'm sure they're less expensive and probably lighter. They look nice, but would not be my choice. I do like those seats though.

Did the 2" lift include heavy duty control arms? Any more details?

M/T tires would have been nice. Wonder why they went with A/Ts?

If it did have a Hemi as it sits, then I would happily drop 60-65K on it for sure!
