If anyone is curious from last weekend, I still haven't figured out what happened to my winch but I did finally perform a motor test and its not dead so likely the solenoid. Not sure why that would have gone out under the circumstances. I ordered a new battery and a new solenoid tonight, but was able to manually power the motor to spool everything back in.

What happened with it?

It took us 2 1/2 hours to get him out of trouble, beer would have taken us 5 hours!!!

I believe it. I learned a lot last year when we did our snow run. We went about one mile in 6 hours. Being stuck in snow equals "time" no matter how you look at it. Glad to be on the other side of that run.

BIG lesson for me on that run, "back off" when front end starts bouncing at full lock. End result: broken ujoint, axle. Sorry about that big delay and thanks for your help.

The payoff for our 2.5 hours was an awesome physics lesson. Totally worth it - winch issues aside.

More than happy to help. Learning from these things is priceless and is the key and gives us skills for future runs. Hell, a few weekends ago when my rig broke down, it would have been a 30 second fix (and hundreds of dollars in savings) had I known what the issue was then.

Was impressed how Jack kept his "cool" during this. Jeep could have easily tipped over. Would definitely have been a different story if that pricey Warn not have failed.

Keeping your cool is the biggest must. I did finally fix the warn last night and it was the solenoid. I had to completely disassemble the thing and put it back together so I'm now an expert on warn zeons and how they work. Still don't know why the solenoid went, but I'm waiting on a new odyssey battery that I also ordered hoping that it wasn't a power issue that caused it to go.

Hey Guys & Gals,

I've been meaning to follow up with the pictures I took while we were out on my first run. I've been busy wrenching on the Jeep near daily (I hear that's normal), and haven't gotten chance post this up.

Here is a link to the pictures and video I got. Far too many and too big to post up individually. I'll leave them up for the next week or so and then disable the link. If you want a copy just grab the few you want or just hit download and it will pull down a full zip. The videos cover some of the folks going over that small rock wall on the way out and Jack trying to harness Sara's excitement to get back up on the way back.

PS.. I figured out why my Jeep kept bottoming out. We suspected it was long shocks, which it could have been, but today I found that about 2+ inches of the drivers rear spring was broken off but still hooked on under the spring. It was luckily stabilizing it enough that it didn't come out. I have RK Progressive Springs and Rancho 9k Shocks on the way to solve it either way. Since then my E-Disco died too, which I'll be fixing this weekend with a EVO No Limits and Trail Dash to turn off the blinky light. Quickly learning to lore of the money pit is real.

PPS.. Was happy to see you found your ghost in the system WJCO. While I was eyeballing the intake when we were hanging around, I wouldn't have expected the hose to be collapsing, although it makes sense now. Lesson learned and only money burned, mostly because you said no to our offer to set fire to the whole rig.

Thanks again for having Kelly & I out on the trip. Was a great time, with a great group of people. Until next time.:beer::beer::beer:

Great shots. Thanks for sharing. As far as your rig goes, glad you got it straightened out. You mentioned you just bought your Jeep recently, so guess you can expect to do some repairs to get things in order. Just Empty Every Pocket!! Hope to see you soon on another run.
