Caught the Bug
Hey y’all ! My girlfriend and I are looking at moving to Kennewick, Washington (still waiting on a job offer in Texas before we make a decision) in about a month and wanted to see if anyone here is familiar with the area. Looking to see what industries are there, areas to avoid living, wheeling, etc.

Also if anyone can chime in on motor vehicle codes in Washington that would be great! I currently run cut fenders, no mud flaps of any kind and no rear bumper.

Thank you all in advance!!

The Eastern side of the state is pretty chill with vehicle requirements. Western side can be a little more stingy. Tri-Cities is a fairly large area (Kennewick, Pasco and Richland). Lots of agriculture, nuclear plant, paper mill and such. An hour north you can hit up the sand dunes in Moses Lake. Probably an 1.5 hrs away you can wheel up in the Naches area. Plenty of places further West. More wheeling towards Spokane too.

I've been pulled over...twice...for no mud flaps, but no ticket (they then wanted to talk about the jeep at that point)...since then, I have removable mud flaps and have not had any problems.

Like just about anywhere, it depends on the LEO. I didn’t have any problems when I lived up there except one time. Got a pissed off stater that wrote me up for just about everything, no mud flaps, tires sticking out too far, etc.

Ouch, that’s my fear is that one time. If we move up there I’ll likely just order the Evo mudflaps so they have one less large item to pull me over for

I live on the west side, Tacoma area, and go to school in Spokane. I run 35s and a 3”ish lift and don’t regularly run mud flaps, never had an issue. I do have a set I throw on when it snows to keep down the kick up but I’ve never been pulled over without them, and in Spokane any time I go anywhere I see 5+ officers patrolling.

I’ve only ever seen haggard old toyota’s and chevy’s get pulled over. If you keep a clean rig you should be fine. Here in the Everett/ Marysville area there are a bunch of newer diesel trucks with 3/4 of the tire sticking out.

That's a hell of a commute to school...
