I’ve had that moment over 30 years ago freediving/spearfishing off Makaha...I was swimming over a finger ledge that dropped off from 25 feet into 110 feet of water when a pod of pilot whales swam 10 feet below me...I was thinking “wow, how cool is this” when a big male turned sideways, turned his head and swiveled his large eyeball my way and then bared his teeth...which were about three inches long...made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and almost stopped my heart...
