So I was slacking hardcore on actually taking pics over the weekend of the sub install. I was very frustrated working on it due to having a hard time finding the correct speaker wires to tap into. Ended up using the passenger under the dash which I am not happy with and didnt even really finish yet. Sub is just sitting under the rear seat as well since I cant decide if I want to mount it to the tuffy rear panel or not yet. It does sound really good however.

Did get the timing belt done on the audi, but having a hard time getting the lower rad hose to stay on properly...theres a clip involved, so went to drive it and noticed it was dumping coolant so I now have to hit the dealer and buy a bottle or 2 and try again once it stops raining and dries up.

I don't know what the clip looks like but if it looks like this...

Then try to find some of these...

The picture is one from Snap-On and I'm sure other brands can be found. I do know the Snap-On ones are really nice and don't strip out like some of the others. I never bought a pair of these until after I had quit working at the dealership but crap I should've purchased them sooner. It's a world of difference. Also if it is like one of the clamps pictured, and really any clamp, make sure you get it back in the same spot if reusing a hose. I've seen them leak just because they aren't lined up in the same spot they were taken off of.

That tool will be on my list soon, but its actually a push connection with a slide in pin/clip. I thought I had it on all the way, esp since I have a new coolant filling vac system which held, but yeah it didn't lol.

Also, while messing around trying to find out which wires behind the radio were correct since I was going to splice in there, I did a quick hookup to test the sub....now I have a message each time I start the jeep "CHECK TPM SYSTEM" which has me quite confused.

Been searching all over different forums, for the TPM warning which doesnt seem to show much other than the typical your tires are low thing. So I am thinking about resetting the procal, and re-doing all the things like gears, tire size and whatnot. The jeep doesnt drive any different but seems like it doesnt have the same pep like before so maybe somehow the ecu reset itself from me messing with wires.

If that doesnt work im going to send it in for an oil change and maybe have the dealer look at it.

Have you tried hooking the amp ign power wire to another 12v wire just to see if the TPM light goes away?

The amp has a power wire to the battery, shitty ground to the rear seat (havent made my mind up where i want it so its temp), then its tapped off the front passenger dash speaker to trigger it and power it on.

When i was trying to test it to see if that way actually worked is when the cluster acted up and triggered the tpm warning. I dont have the actual light like I have a low tire, just a warning on the message screen. Also the gas gauge was acting up while testing that slight connection which has been fine for now.

I think I have decided to just return the sub. I feel to make it work the way I want, I should just upgrade to a different radio which I do not see spending the money on at this time. As its wired now, the sub will turn on and off frequently which is very annoying. I could run a better remote turn on wire for it, but seems like tapping into the can-bus system has its issues. I did just dig around to see if PAC offers anything, which they do but only for the upgraded system with factory amp. Guess I am back to the drawling board on this one.

I have untill April 11th to return it after checking on amazons website. Maybe if its nice this weekend I will mess with it more.

As for the "TPM System Warning"....When I got home yesterday from work, I re-did all the flashes on the procal other than doing a reset on the unit itself. So tires, tpm disable, gears. I am still getting the TPM warning on the dash which has me confused.

That sure is strange.

I still have my factory 430n installed along with an amp to all my speakers, no sub but thats a quick wire off my amp, i used a line output converter to change the output of the wiring harness to the RCA output which then went downstream to an amp, under my pass. seat, and then completely rewired my speakers off the amp( instead of from the head unit) was more time consuming than costly and it works great. I believe all the other wiring (power/ground/acc/ect..) from the aftermarket harness to the vehicle lined up separate of the converter like it normally would. then i just installed the amp with power, ground and output to the speakers and everything works as it should. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but its how i made the factory head unit work with premium sound.

Thanks for sharing that. That is probably what I need to make this work the way I want. At that point tho and spending more money, I would almost just rather replace the stock headunit with something I actually want. I guess I will figure it all out once my satelite runs out. I am going to try to have it turn on with a 12v source this weekend tho before I send the sub back since I do like the size of it and the other one I have sitting around in the garage is small as well, but I would need to buy or build a new box for it and figure out where the hell to put that.

Your welcome, and that's a good point if your thinking a new head unit anyway as that will cover what you need in terms of outputs, I think that converter was like 50 or 60$ and the amp was a couple hundred, but for me I knew i wanted more power as I was replacing all speakers anyway. I still havent decided on a sub yet as my aftermarket speakers with the amp give a decent amount of bass, espicailly with the limited amount of room in a 2-door. best of luck!

Technically I have the room in the back with the unlimited, but I would want it under the tuffy deck, and currently I keep a tool box, thule organizer bag with a bunch of recover gear, and another milwaukee tool bag with more tools and parts.....so I dont really have the room there. However, and I should take some pics and somehow measure this, but there is a decent amount of room between the rear seats, and the tuffy back panel of the deck enclosure. This small sub is just sitting under the rear seat which is fine with me unless I decide to cross any water with no doors it will have to be moved or pulled up. I plan to try and mount it to the rear metal panel, but I am worrying about it rattling too much there.

The main thing I want from a different headunit, more than anything, is a back up camera. Not that I "need" one, but it would be nice to have in parking lots so I dont run someone over and would also help getting in my garage since its a tight fit and usually very dark inside.

seems like a lot going on back there but i would be interested to see how that looks all together, sounds like a cool set up. I need to either relocate my amp or figure a way to water proof it as well, being im going to be doing more and more off road, likely no doors and dont want to risk it. I too want to hook up a back up camera, they make life easier in parking lots, maybe even on the trail. Though i think they make a harness to connect to my head unit at least as it has the screen. i must have missed it but what HU are you running?

I will actually take some pics tonight, since I forgot over the weekend between running around doing errands and working on the jeep, but I finally got the sub working the way I want. All it took was a better power source to turn it on after I figured which fuse the cigarette lighter was on. I tried a battery disconnect to try and reset the cluster, which I have read may need to be done after you disable the TPM system, but guess just leaving the cables off wasnt enough. I may just pull the cluster out itself and maybe that will clear its memory.

So only took this pic tonight, but it's where it'll be mounted once it warms up a little cuz I'm gonna use velcro. May take the jeep for my tattoo appointment tomorrow so we shall see how the sub does.

That's what I've been thinking about. Talked with a guy I met a few weeks back about this. He says he's a sales rep for Kicker and that those are supposed to be really good. Guy also has a 2 door JK. [emoji106]

What kind of work are you getting done if you don't mind me asking. I just started another one last week. He ran out of time so I'm going back again next week. I'm working on a partial upper sleeve right now.

For what it is, I am very happy with it. Just need to keep messing with the settings to get it exactly where I want. I went this location over just under the rear seat just incase any water ever gets in from the floors from a deep water crossing. I am not worried about it getting wet since I never really take my top off anymore. Its not booming bass, but does fill in the low end very well. I have it mildly turned up with gain and bass boost right now.

Nice looks good man, all good with stock head unit?

Yeah finally got it working properly. I would still like to tap into the left speaker wires like I should have done, but didnt want to run wires all across the jeep yet.

Half upper sleeve on my left arm. Incorporating "Alcohol, Nicotene, Caffine, and Wild Wild Women" which is my grandfathers saying. I have a preview drawling I will post and it looks good so far for just being one part. I know my artist hasnt been this excited to work on me in years.
