Firefighter and Law Enforcement Wayalifers! The Official Public safety Wayalife thread

My two rides presently. Tower being my favorite. If I get hired I'll probably be going to the station that is getting the new full timers. We'll see though...anything can happen.

I like the black! Not digging the two mini bars on top of the F150, though.

Today I interviewed for Captain and EO for the dept I volunteer with (Cypress Creek FD). 3 capt and 3 EOs open which will make 3 of our 4 stations full time. Start date is Jan 2 so it will be a tense couple weeks coming up!

Talk about a thread revival.

Jackal, I hope your interview went well and that you land a gig.

Thoughts and good vibes to all hose draggers in Tn! Stay safe guys

What makes a brush rig a brush rig? This came up in conversation the other day

A brush rig is usually a smaller apparatus that can be used for fighting grass fires, brush fires, wild land firefighting or something that might not be reachable by a regular large fire engine.

Usually they have smaller pumps and water tanks with various hose set ups and a place for a FF to stand safely and fight fire while the vehicle is moving.

Found a few old photos to share.

My first fire(Jan 26th, 2015) Large Downtown building contents fire. Just a block away from our Sta. 1. Thankfully we were able to save the structure.

My usual ride is Medic 1 but here is a shot of Medic 2. I am an EMS FTO on my shift so I spend a lot of time on the box.

I'll echo this. We have 3 boosters aka brush trucks and a UTV with a mini pump and tank. It also has a matching, collapsible trailer, towed by the UTV, that can hold a single scoops basket and one medic at the head. Both of those go onto a trailer pulled by a Super duty. It mostly responds to assist medics with patients in forests, woods, etc.

Wow I didn't even know about this thread! I used to be a firefighter for kings county fire department and now I am on a type 1 handcrew for the Sequoia National Forest.
