Trail damage

Thought this might be fun and might make a lot of use cringe actually.

Post up some pics of trail damage. anything from the tree deciding to put its signature on your rig to a boulder that should have been negotiated wider, a steering stabilizer with the strength of a toothpick to a shaft who gave you the shaft.

the 'shoulda woulda coulda' would be good. Down the road this thread can be used as a "dont cheap out, kid. you dont want *this* to happen to you" kindof place of reference for when someone thinks their D30 can handle as much load as tons.

Lets see your trail damage!

p.s. i had every intention to start this off myself, then, realized i didnt have pics which will follow tonight.

I merged this to an existing thread, FYI.

So... I bit off a little more than I could chew and a rock reminded me that sliders are tougher than sheet metal... Well at least I know what I'm getting myself for Christmas! P. S. Can someone chime in on the following? I'm think of just having it fixed and then a shifty paint job, don't need to color match since I'll end up putting skins there. Thoughts on this?

Yep, just basically make sure there is no bear metal there that could rust in the future. That's all. You could probably even get a color matched spray can from ebay for about 30 bucks. Just clean the area really good with Acetone and spray it. It there is any rust already, grind it down first. That's what I would do since you're going to be covering it anyways.

agreed with what wjco said. Just go easy on the spray paint. It's easy to get carried away and do more than the skins will cover. Just do enough so there's no bare metal.

Thoughts on this?

I had a "slight" issue that caused similar damage with a lift :)

I ended up getting some prep solvent, compound, matching paint, and sealer for $35 on automotivetouchup.com. Been procrastinating fixing it but figure the long weekend will be spent on this and installing some seat heaters. The rocksliders cover it up for the most part so it might be a bit overkill, but I love my Jeep.

The guy behind the ford that is broken in half doesn't look like he even noticed a situation had arisen
