Ya to bad for the damage or u would have made it all the way up....

Actually, a motorcyclist gave us word the blue truck guy was "waiting" for us to come help him again. We spent a good part of 1.5 hrs helping and he didn't even thank us. Never mind the fact we saved him from nearly going over the edge. Weren't about to get stuck behind him again especially when he told the guy he "expected" us to come help him.

We had pretty much gone through the roughest sections be the point of the sway bend, but my jeep was at the trailhead. An adventure though that is for sure.

Russ figured my rubi could probably have made it except the first batch of rocks, might have needed a tug up. The jeeps made it look pretty easy. :thumb:

This happens to the links on a Rubicon if they are not long enough. When you have a lot of wheel droop it will cause your sway bar link to over rotate and bend. On a flat surface your links should be long enough so that the sway bar ends are about 15 degrees above level. I bent mine once before somebody told me this.

It was an aftermarket lift kit too. Think they would have it figured right. Unless they didn't replace the stock links. Regardless I think he said it would be fixed under warranty.

A lot of lift kits require you to move your rear links to the front. They are not always long enough, especially on a Rubicon.

Well, we were definitely flexing on dishpan and the link coming up and over might have been the first click we heard. The links were longer than stock (as we compared to mine when we got back to air up), but maybe/likely still not long enough. The 15* you mentioned might be telling as I don't think the other side was 15* above level. Actually think it was below level. Could be from the lift giving more than advertised?

This seems to be quite common I'm learning. Lifts say 3 or 4 but giving in some cases a full 1-2 inches more. In time it might sag, but this was brand new lift (pro-comp I think) on a 2013.

Hopefully for santamonica it is warrantied, but thanks for the note on this Moochie as I learned something to keep my eyes on in the future! :thumb:

Picturing him sitting there waiting for us is almost comical. But to assume we would bail his ass out again is ridiculous! At some point his friends would come check on him, while also giving him time to sober up in the sun. :cheesy::cheesy:

Well of course we will help people but once broke u don't continue if u don't have to that he should have figured out...

So ur links were not longer with ur lift I don't think to many people that have a bb lift like mine get longer ones.....

I asked if he had a cb after the first break and told him we were on 16. His response was "No but I have a jack." I didn't have an answer for that.

So... I learned quite a bit today after some research.
Turns out the lift kit is a Rubicon Express 3.5", (Glendora Jeep Dealership told me it was a Pro-Comp but they lied) and it uses the stock rear links to replace the front links. I discussed the issue with Eric at Rubicon Express tech support and he said he would "set me up with" some longer links for the front, although the link that bent was a stocker I think they are sending them free! The problem was links that were too short, but since there are so many Rubicon Express lifts out there using rear links for the front per instructions you would think this is common? My jeep and I are just out doing some free R&D I guess. Hope they fix the kit for next year. Im satisfied with the warranty/customer service. Will let you all know what ultimately happens.
Thanks for your tools and help on the trail Russ! I would go wheeling with you and that badass jeep again anytime.

At least it's an easy fix and they are taking care of you. You are welcome, any time my tools are being used on someone else's jeep I'm happy. Mainly cause its not mine. Good times and we will finish that trail next time.

After lunch a few rigs decided to give dishpan springs a look, which turned into running the trail. I parked my stock rubi and hitched a ride.

The two jeeps handled it great, but this guy not so much. We ended up helping him twice as he broke his axle on the first rocks. Here he is the second time. He was hanging off the edge of the trail being held by a winch line and a dead tree branch that is not in the frame.
