Presses on the axle seal, set the pinion preload and pinion nut torque. Welded on the hydraulic ram clamp feet. This axle is almost done, I think... 20171225_232709.jpg I used an old bearing out race to press in the new seal. I was getting frustrated trying to tap it in with a hammer. It worked amazingly well. 20171225_234513.jpg 20171225_232701.jpg

Didn't get a lot of time to work on the cj today. I at least took off both knuckles and drilled them to 23/32th then reamed them to 3/4. 20171227_213220.jpg 20171227_205330.jpg The reamed was too long so I had to take it out of the vise and setup on the table. Turned an already sketchy setup even sketchier. 20171227_210851.jpg 20171227_212440.jpg 20171227_212752.jpg I made a couple 10° fixtures to get the holes to line up with the drill bit. And clamped the knuckles onto them. 20171227_213832.jpg

I put the axle under the jeep, space is kinda limited here. Started to work on the cage again, made some pillars to tie into the windshield cross member. 20171229_220803.jpg going to leave the knuckles off for now until oi can get the high steer arms finished. 20171229_220807.jpg

I've never seen anybody do that before but great idea. Glad to see it worked.
I had a similar issue trying to get the new pinion seal installed on my Titan. Went to Lowe's and got a 2 to 3" abs pipe fitting. I could hot that and it worked well to get it started. I drove it as far as I could then used a 1/2" wooden dowel to seat it. That was an hour job which turned into a 4 hour one..haha

I love those kind of solutions. Theyseem to make the job take forever but you feel like a genius when it works.

Did some work on the role cage. Started to fill below the passenger and driver windows. The passenger side tubes are made, one to go on the driver side when my hole saw gave out. 20171231_204717.jpg 20171231_204750.jpg 20171231_215752.jpg 20171231_220654.jpg

You’re doing some great work but holy hell, how do you work that type of stuff in that garage. Lol cramped and stuff everywhere. (Says the guy with the mess of parts all over his garage for the last month)
