RETIREMENT ROAD TOUR #1

Yup, just another squirrel, in fact, a good sized one. I'd eat it, but I eat all kinds of animals I shoot. MMM, squirrel bbq on the grill, squirrel and dumplins, batter fried, salt and pepper on the grill,,, Mmm
When we lived in CO, those things were protected by the greenies, but also there were constant warnings about Bubonic Plague. Do you have to worry about that out there?

There is no season on them here in Texas, they are hunted year around. Many ranchers allow hunters to hunt them year around trying to get rid of them. Eating them, to me, just another squirrel. Cook it until well done. There is risks with any game, and non-game (prairie dog is non-game) animals that you hunt. Enough marinade, and or lots of spice and they all taste good . When all else fails,,,, Tabasco sauce.

We are in Helena, MT.

Years ago (1980’s) I used to come here with my military unit to do mountain and winter warfare training. We would base out of Fort Harrison and travel up to the Bitterroot Valley and climb near Hamilton. We would spend a month in the winter and a month in the summer. We would always static-line parachute in and someone would always get injured because of the winds and the thin air. Old time static line parachutes used porous cloth and you fell fast. Luckily there is a VA hospital directly next to the Drop Zone. 😳

The First Special Services was a joint US and Canadian unit that fought in WW2.

We had a reunion with a bunch of the original members of the unit, it was really cool hearing their war stories.

I may ask your itinerary of this trip - this is EXACTLY what I want to do and similar to the route we took on my last visit years ago, although we came in from North Dakota and did it backwards from you

Not very many threads make me jelly and this is one of them. Awesome to see you two having so much fun.
