I've thought about it but just don't have the tools for it lol. Did you put anything under them for reinforcement so they don't flop around?

You retain your sub-structure and that gives it reinforcement.

You can use a jig saw. That's what I did.

I would tape the lines so you know they are even.
Yes. I have done about half a dozen of these and have used a jigsaw as well. It's a lot faster but you'll want to take some time to sand the edges smooth.

After sanding the edges did you put the small rubber molding on the edges?

My hood flutter went away when I put the daystar hood latches on and flipping my mirror wouldn't work for backing up because of my smittybilt overhead console
