Idk, he might have, in which case he didn’t have the proper recovery gear. I’d say, when defecting, at a minimum you should have rear ceramic or steel ballistic plate armor.

Although many Jeeps were used in the fight for freedom, this gentleman used something else.

It more than likely was a Beijing BJ2020, a Chinese light utility vehicle.

Look closely at the fender opening and the hood in relation to the lights in the video. The vehicle in the video looks more like the BJ2020 than a JK. The BBC also reported that a wheel fell off is why the vehicle stopped. Chinese quality.
