Inlaws came down from northern Oregon and we hit the road for a few days. Headed East out Hwy 50, stopped to see sand mountain in Fallon, Attachment 335386Attachment 335387Attachment 335388, then headed further East to Austin to see Stokes castle Attachment 335389. Continuing East, we rolled through Ely, and headed South to camp for a couple days in Cave Lake State Park Attachment 335390Attachment 335391. Day two, we rolled south west to check out the Ward Charcoal Ovens Attachment 335392Attachment 335393Attachment 335394
and then North to Garnet Hill. Not much luck but got a couple decent garnets then we headed back to camp. Following day we headed South through Pioche to check out Cathedral Gorge State park Attachment 335395Attachment 335396Attachment 335397Attachment 335398Attachment 335399Attachment 335400
From Cathedral Gorge, we continued on South to Caliente, then West on 93 to 375 West, where we inadvertently stumbled onto the Storm Area 51 site..late thank god. Attachment 335401Attachment 335402Attachment 335403 and then continued on to Tonopah. By the time we got there, everybody was fading and this next bit tickled my father in laws sense of humor, so with sketch as fuck rooms booked we settled in for (surprise) what would turn out to be a night with little sleep Attachment 335404Attachment 335405Attachment 335406Attachment 335407Attachment 335408Attachment 335409. In the grand scheme of things, I gotta recommend a hard pass on this motel. I had been experiencing a noticeable drop in power throughout that days driving and temps pushing the 3/4 mark at 330-340 deg, so i was up bright and early the following morning removing my bumper hoop, lights, grille trim rings and grille mesh. With all that packed away in the trailer, the rest of the drive home was smooth sailing with consistent 190-210 temps and a regained ability to overtake semis and cruise at 70 without issue. Needless to say, that shit isn't going back on.
Was a great loop of Nevada and I wish I had gotten more pictures on the road as the huge open skies and massive valleys were absolutely epic. Traveling those roads and not seeing much in the way of fellow humanity was brilliant and I find I can't wait to head right back out to the middle of nowhere.

It was a good one. Long days on the road but every bit worth it.
