You WILL rub a LOT Offroad if you disconnect without cutting your flares or running increased bumpstops. This photo is with 305/65R17 and 2" spacer leveling kit. The tires measure right at 32.5ish new and 12" wide. Mounted on 17x9 rims with 4.5" backspacing:
As you can see, my tires are not even turned to full lock. I've broken a pretty large piece of plastic off. If I turned my wheel to the left, the whole flare likely would have ripped off. When towing close to the factory limit and going over bumps in the highway. The rear tires would rub slightly in the rear flares, but not enough to cause any worry, break anything, etc. the front is the issue with stock flares and stock bumpstops.
