35's???

I have a 08 jk w/stock 3.73 and 35's and it does feel slow on the getup and 3.21 IMO would be just painful. The thing that hurts the most tho is my bully dog triple tuner shows me how much wasted energy I'm using just to move her...I'm thinking regear to 4.88 or 5.13 before school starts up in the fall.

So the tread on my 33's is near the end if it's life and Iv been looking into moving up to 35's. With this though I have a lot of questions. My Dad put 35's on his unlimited and it was near unbearable to drive and felt "gutless" in a sense. I don't have the money to go and re-gear my transmission like him so my question is will the same thing happen to my 2 door? If so how bad is it and is It worth doing or what would you recommend?

3.8 and stock gears for a sport - yes, it will be gutless and your fuel costs will go up.
even if you regear, you don't want to go 5.13 as your pinion will get too small but also, it will not bring your mileage back
as much as you want to get bigger tires, as a college student I would recommend holding off until you can afford all the associated costs of bigger tires, beside the lift, cost of tires etc....your biggest hit will be at the fuel pump...

I ran 35's in my 11 sport JKU for about a year I guess it was. Running 5.13's now and pulling 14 to 18 on average depending on conditions. .

He has a auto and I believe he runs 3.21 gears right now unless he got the tow package. He's probably looking at 12-15MPG depending on his foot with 35s

I just put 35"' Tires on my 2011, i have the stock 3.73 gears. I was running 33" before, you will feel a difference in the power but for me it is not unbearable. I guess it all depends on the driver, i hear some people say they hate it, some say they dont mind it. Of course re gearing is the way to go which i will eventually do.

I run 35's with a 2.5" lift and 3.21 gears good mix of city and highway, depending how I have my programmer set I get 16.4 to 17.6, 2013 JKU auto

I do have the tow package. Does that change the gear ratio that I will have? And with my 33's driving conservative I can get around 15/16 mpg on a good day.

That means you have the same setup as me. It's bearable and doable (programmer or tuner helps a lot) I've ran this setup for about 2 years now without problems or regrets. I do get about 14-16mpg and as stated above I do plan to go to 4.88 before fall semester starts just for better acceleration.

College budget, think big build slow 😁
